Can i join? and have you read any by John Flanagan he wrote the Ranger's Apprentice
series it is really good this is the first books discription: The Ruins of Gorlan: He had always wanted to be a warrior. The Rangers, with their dark cloaks and shadowy ways, made him nervous. The villagers believe the Rangers practice magic that makes them invisible to ordinary people. And now fifteen year-old Will, always small for his age, has been chosen as a Ranger's apprentice. What he doesn't realize yet is that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom. Highly trained in the skills of battle and surveillance, they fight the battles before the battles reach the people. And as Will is about to learn, there is a large battle brewing. The exiled Morgarath, Lord of the Mountains of Rain and Night, is gathering his forces for an attack on the kingdom. This time, he will not be denied . . . .

So many books that sound interesting, so little time! I've had an urge to re-read Anne McCaffrey's The Rowan series lately, though...I wish I had time!

I like Crossfire by Miyabe Miyuki. It's a lovely book about life and death, justice and revenge.

Maybe if you like Twilight, Crossfire isn't exactly for you D: It's of a completely different genre and has a very dark mystery embedded in it. It's a lot like the Death Note anime/manga series. So if you don't like Death Note, maybe you shouldn't read Crossfire, I guess.

Have any of you read the Gemma Doyle trilogy? That's one of my favorite contemporary fantasy books.

I've been looking at this thread for a few days now, and have finally decided to post. I am a bookworm. Basically, I will read any printed page put in front of me with a couple of exceptions, notably the genres known as "bodice-rippers" (you know, the really cheesy romance novels?), horror (sorry, I wig out far too easily), and Westerns (just not into the "shoot 'em up" scene).
My favorite genres are historical fiction and fantasy, so I think I think I could find some like-minded folk here. ![]() One of my favorites is The Mists of Avalon. I have read this at least a dozen times and find something new each time I do. I've always loved Arthurian tales, so that helps, but the story is just so well-told that it makes me wish I could find Avalon, myself. Oh, and avery, I absolutely love Xanth! I've read the books since I was in high school, which is farther back than I care to say, to be honest. I'm most partial to the earlier stories, with favorites probably being Ogre, Ogre, Dragon on a Pedestal, and Crewel Lye. I do love others in the series, but those three are usually at the forefront of my mind when I think about it.*bounces* Aaaaand! I've been corresponding with Piers Anthony for almost fifteen years! I sent him a letter back when he'd written Isle of Woman and Shame of Man, because I just adored those books, he wrote back, and we've written a few times a year ever since!! He has a reputation of being curmudgeonly, but he really is a wonderfully sweet man, and I value the letters I've received from him very highly.

Try going to bookstores that allow free reading XD Usually all the major bookstores allow it (a sure sign would be if they have reading chairs splattered in the store).
