According to cnet, which is the best thing I could find on ths:
Just click Ctrl + Alt + Delete and in Applications select IE or Firefox and click 'End Task' then restart again your browser. This "Not Responding" thing usually happens whenever the page is loading slow and you click anything inside the window, it's just like you interrupted the loading process that's why it stops or hangs. Try to update Silverlight (IE only) and Flash Player this might help in fast opening of your browsers. I understand that Flash player seems to be the root cause of some of these failures to load. http://forums.cnet.com/7723-19411_102-399661.html I have an nVidia driver that crashes daily and then I can't get to my email until I close and re-open the program. It usually only happens when I am using windows live mail, but I have 3 email accts and like to be able to access them all in one place, so I am stuck. I haven't found any answer to that problem. I done rollbacks, and looked for updates but so far I have found nothing. ![]()

That's strange. I have a nvidia driver and never had any problems with loading firefox. Are you sure your computers are clean of bugs or anything that could cause trouble? I use malwarebytes' Anti Malware to scan. better results than avg/avast imo.

@KTC - Here's a copy-paste from another forum I asked help on firefox - "The worst thing is Firefox to make its browser fast in terms of Google chrome, it now eats up more RAM. Generally it now crashes, that being one of the reason." And This... "Yeah, Firefox keeps giving me the 'Not Responding' message and it is getting quite annoying. But that's why there's Chrome..." If nobody has the solution I'll just "BOO FIREFOX!" & Start using Chrome.. -_-

I was having that "Not Responding" issue, as well. The only thing that worked for me was to completely uninstall Firefox, delete any leftover folders and files, and then do a fresh install.
I exported my bookmarks, first, as a file, and then imported it into the new install. Haven't had any issues, since. I think it must've been a glitchy plug-in or something like that.

I don't use Firefox on this machine because that was part of what broke my last one. I use Kaspersly and haven't had any issues with bugs, (but I can't download some Amaranth games) and the the driver issue has been a factor with this laptop since the day she arrived. The problem is one with nVidia driver 189 that at first often failed when I would be testing a game, but now that I am not doing that it likes to fail when I am accessing my email, lol! I have done everything that I can, Toshiba says its not their problem, nVidia says I am imagining it, and at this point i just sigh, close down my email and re-0pen it. Sometimes I do this 6 times a day, sometimes not at all. Rollbacks don't help, and there are no fixes out there on the net that I have found so I guess that when I get a new laptop that will fix it.

I have to go with "Boo Firefox!" right now, even though I still use it. Or rather, BOO UPDATES! Facebook, Deviantart, and Firefox has been doing stuff I don't want them to do in their updates. The newer they get, the more annoying they are. Firefox became annoying the moment the browser started looking like Chrome, any update Facebook made usually are disagreeable with me, and I hated DevArt for giving a 1000 limit to their search results.

huh, I wonder why you guys are having problems with FF. I've never had problems with firefox on any of the five computers I've installed/updated.
are you sure you guys are installing the stable version and not beta of firefox?

Eh, the newest version of Firefox has problems with lots of addons. At least, it did for me. Personally, I had trouble with the StumbleUpon addon- kept freezing up on me. I removed that and it seemed to work.

never had problems with any of the add ons + updated ff. than again, I always use ones which are constantly updated
They being 2 spam/ad blocks and 1 download thing. Only addons I ever needed lol.

I have a weird problem. I have this hard drive that I save my school works in, and somehow ANYTHING I save from the school computer would be broken. If I just open the file, nothing's wrong. If I edit and save anything, though, it will be broken whenever I try to reopen it in another computer. I mean, so long as the file don't leave the computer, it's perfectly a-okay. The backups I kept in the computer itself are fine. It's the one that I copy or "save as" to my hard-drive that gets wrecked.
That's what happened when I was having MSWord error last time. It isn't restricted to DOCs, apparently. PSDs, FLAs, images saved from the internet, installers, etc. I wonder if the problem is with the hard drive or the computer. I haven't checked if the same thing happens to a flash drive... Worse yet, some of them are so corrupted they can't even be over-written or erased.

Does it only happen with that computer or is it any computer the harddrive is stuck in?
If so, use a different computer. however, if its the harddrive i'd try reformatting it. It'll get rid of those undeletable files and should reset everything on the drive.

Any computer in the school's lab does that to the files. I probably should to a test with a flash drive to see if it's the computer or the drive that has problems.
I notice that every time I plug my hard drive into the school's computer, it gives me the "drive F has problems. Do you want to scan and repair?" message.

what about computers outside school?
Also, I'd just reformat the harddrive since it's easier to do than try to mess with school computers. I remember a couple harddrives gave me trouble until I just reformatted them and than they worked fine.

Odd. I just went to a blogspot site and it's perfectly fine. Sometimes sites go down temporarily. Try restarting the computer and opening the site again.
