iPink, stop being presumptive. You do NOT know how much I enjoyed it. I was being super vague because I was dead-tired (it was 2 AM) so I didn't have the energy to rant and rave about stuff I like and didn't like. I feel offended that you think I liked it a more than I really do
![]() And dude, you don't know animation jargon, do you? Rendering is the modelling and animation technique. NOT character design. Since you said that the animation WAS good, then you ARE agreeing with me that the rendering was great. The way the tone their dialogue was what I meant by "faux". The way they talk. They may be real Scottish people, but they don't talk like that in normal life, do they? They seem to be trying too hard to make the accent more prominent, and makes it sound fake. Which reminds me, I haven't brought up character designs. Me no likes character design either. Pardon my faulty memory, but I don't remember seeing Disney using such wonky character design on the main characters. The hyperbolic facial features were usually used on side characters. I wonder who's in charge of the designs, Pixar or Disney. Presumably Pixar. Disney don't usually do their characters like this, see Tangled. I don't care why there's a dedication to Steve Jobs there. I mean, I know Jobs had a big part in Pixar, so I figured they wanted to put a shout out there after his death. I was just wondering if the fact that it's dedicated to Jobs was part of the reasons why one of the clans was named Macintosh as opposed to other names that would just be as funny. Like Macdonald or something. Did not like the duh moments. Did not like the cliche. I went to watch it for the pretty animation. I know I'm watching a Disney movie, so I know to expect some herp derp lameness. I didn't like how Merida was all "waaaaah, trouble!" when her dad went chasing mom-bear as opposed to GO FIX THE TAPESTRY. I already know the "severed bond" means the mother-daughter bond and something along the lines of "I love you" is going to fix it, but at that point Merida is still thinking that fixing the tapestry is going to solve the issue, so I was thinking WHY YOU MOPING HURRY AND FIX IT DANGIT!!!!!! Didn't like the panicky, screaming servant-woman. Her over-the-top screaming is annoying after a while. Tangled was way better plot-wise. They at least didn't pretend it's something more epic than it really was. With Brave they're trying to sell it as... something more epic than it really is. No. It's not epic. It's lame. Off to watch Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. I hope it's not as lame as it seems. It has potential to be very lame or very good. Edited to remove profanity, even minor profane words are not allowed. ~Mopiece

@d_a: I wasn't saying that you liked everything that I disliked, but you said that you thought it was "good" and I'd describe it as "below average," so I assume that I liked it less than you did. It's all relative.
![]() And I knew that about rendering/design. I just wasn't thinking, so sorry about that. The character design was definitely Pixar. It's from Pixar Animation Studios, published and owned by Disney. So it'd be kind of weird for Walt Disney Animation Studios to contribute anything. Anyway, that Abe Lincoln movie doesn't look that great, but I heard it's better than it looks. I hope you have fun. ![]()

Eh, I appreciate me pretty stuff. I said it's good because of the "durr pretty". I always expect to roll my eyes at a Disney/Pixar movie so unless the plot really offends me, I don't even think about the plot all that much.
I never knew how movies labeled Disney-Pixar works. I mean, I see Disney's name on it, so I assume they were involved somewhere. Plot/character design/storyboarding, what have you. Okay, then. Now that I know it's mostly Pixar and Dusney was only producer/owner... I can just yell at Pixar for making such a lame story.

Abe Lincoln movie isn't worth the money. If you really want to see it, then I'd recommend waiting until it comes out on DVD. It has some decent action scenes, but other than that there isn't any special or good about it.

How is it that Brave has been released in the US for weeks and there's not even a trailer shown in Singapore cinemas? *sigh* I take it that they're just not going to release the movie here, then?
Anyway, I want to watch the Amazing Spiderman, but I'll probably have to wait until I'm done with my piano exams next week.

Brave was just released last Friday in the US.
I'm not sure I want to see the new Spiderman movie. I think it's a bit too early to start the series over again.

Yeah, my friends and I went to see the Abe Lincoln movie and it was...horrible. We actually left part way through so we could grab a drink from Starbucks before it closed, LOL. The visuals were quite good, but the script and the plot were lame, lame, lame. We were actually laughing at it =/
Luckily, we went yesterday (Tuesday) when ticket prices are lowered.

I do hope Brave is out in Malaysian cinemas now... I can't wait to watch it.
Not too sure over Spiderman. The last few were kind of enough and I don't want to watch it so soon...Plus Avengers and MIB3 was enough of action for some time. Since I haven't watched Prosetheus (*facepalm*) or whatever the name is...is it worth the money? I don't want to blow 12 RM just like that, plus others. EDIT: Wait, wait, forgot Cocktail. (*sigh*) July 13th couldn't be farther! Tumhi Ho Bandhu is such a lovely track, anyway.

I thought Prometheus was a good movie. If you liked the Alien series, then you should like this movie.

@diamondmist: Oh, so you live in Malaysia? Should be out around the same time as the Singapore one. I don't know how much time there is between US release and Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia...
@Aeternus: Abe Lincoln was lame? Boo. My friend was really into watching it. I guess I won't be joining them and should head out watch by myself elsewhere.

@DM
12 RM is quite cheap, compared to the S$11.50 movie tickets here. -.- But I think movie release schedule are relative; like Spiderman is already available in Singaporean cinemas, despite being released after Brave. And I remember the Hunger Games and Wrath of the Titans was released in Indonesia before The Lorax.

*gasps* Did I read somewhere someone mentioned Prometheous? How can it be not worth the money? I watched it three times! lol Initially, I didn't know that it was supposed to be the prequel to the Alien series... so imagine the surprise when we went through the movie on the first sitting. ^_^ The only down side is that the music doesn't really fit the theme of the movie. :/
Only watched Brave's trailer... no idea what it's about. xD

I watched Spiderman. It's pretty good, IMO. I got into the movie enough to not nitpick the heck out of the logic-fail aspects, so that's saying a lot. Definitely liked it better than Thor, at least. I really like how family matters a lot, as opposed to some other stuff I've seen out there
![]() I'm excited about the Les Mis movie!!! I just watched the musical, and it was impressive. Now I want to see the movie. I say Hugh Jackman would make a better Javert than Valjean, and he and Russell Crowe really ought to trade roles.

I saw The Amazing Spider-Man today with my sister. It was... fine. Ish. The movie was kind of stupid in both the best and the worst ways. The music the whole movie was AWFUL. The whole production design was very odd and inconsistent: while it seemed to be aiming to emulate the classic sensibility of the Silver Age of comics, it still attempted to be stylish and modern. There was also some competition between gritty darkness and sleek whites and silvers, most obvious in the really weird transition from an above shot of a dusty, orange-tinted Manhattan to the interior of a science fiction-y white laboratory. The acting was generally very good, but everything else was kind of subpar (if entertaining). I quite liked Gwen Stacy, at least, although the gender dynamics in the movie annoyed the heck out of me. I'm glad she wasn't made the damsel-in-distress at any time, but she was still shuffled off to the side in the climax, which never would have happened were she male (as we see, her father, who had heretofore been a periphery character, steps in). Great character, awful writing serving her. Basically describes much of the movie.

Would you say it was better than the first Spiderman that Tobey Maguire did? I liked Tobey's Spiderman, and based on the trailers I'm not sure I'll like the new one.
