Day 31

While exploring the Wildwoods, we found a man in his cottage who told us we were going to need a mirror and wax if we wanted to get the hind. And now, I think, why didn’t I think of that before? Beeswax. Rhen remembered the bees in Aveyond and thought that we should explore more. Chances are high that the beehive is in the caves. We already have a mirror, so all we need is the beeswax to plug our ears with. I’m excited, because I want to graduate and shove my diploma in the haughty necromancer’s nose.

Now we’re in the Thornkeep inn, and the innkeeper gave us hot chocolate for free because the staff had started to miss us and they were glad to see us again. I really don’t understand why they should have missed us; we never talk to the inn people save for when we pay for a night and food. They must be that lonely.

Tomorrow we head for Aveyond, and the instant we take hold of the wax, we will take the boat to the Eastern Isles, kill the hind and graduate. But then, it’s easier said than done.

I suppose Rhen will expect me to back out of the quest when I get my orb staff. She’ll get a real shock! I want to fight a demon too. Before, I just wanted to use the quest concerning the demon to graduate. And to steal Rhen’s limelight. But now, I want to stay on. I think Rhen would like some company on her quest. One day, Talia will have to stay at the Sun Shrine, and if I leave, too, Rhen might get lonely. Sure, I can be a pain in the neck sometimes, but when you have a companion who is a pain in the neck, one can’t possibly get bored. Besides, I like running around the Isles as a nomad (I won’t risk going home and getting my head screamed off by Mom; by now I’m pretty sure that she knows what I’ve done and who I’m with). Who knows, I might actually run into love someday.

Cool update! Come on Lars, fall in love with Rhen.

Hm...so let's have b., then. But i'll have Lars fall in love with Rhen before that, only he won't really take much notice of it. Then he realizes that he loves her only when he sees Dameon kissing Rhen's hand...so he gets really jealous, etc. etc. How about that? I'll have to tweak my entries first before posting...

Nice idea! Then we will see a fight, how cool!

Day 32

Now we are in the tavern in the Wildwoods, and we have the beeswax. Looking for it took up half of our day. Then we remembered that we were supposed to bring Talia to the Sun Shrine, a task we were supposed to do about a month ago. Talia didn’t seem to want to go, but we decided we had to show the Oracle that she was still alive and kicking. So we came here about an hour ago, which was eleven o’clock. Now Rhen is sleeping, and Talia is taking her coffee. She can’t seem to sleep without drinking coffee first. I haven’t written about it yet; I did not notice it before. I just need to finish writing everything that happened today, and I’ll go to sleep, too.

There’s nothing really worth mentioning about the search for the beeswax. We searched the Memory caves thoroughly save for one small cave. I know, it was so stupid of us. When we finally found the beehive, I looked into my backpack for something to distract the bees or something. I found the smokebomb that Rhen bought before. I took it out, and Rhen did not object, so I threw it at the hive, and all the bees fell asleep. Rhen took a chunk of beeswax from the hive, and we quietly exited the Memory caves. Then Talia stopped in her tracks and said quietly, “Oh no, oh no, oh no…I forgot, I should be at the Sun Shrine now. Weeks ago, in fact. Maybe the Oracle thinks I’m dead or something. But I don’t want to go yet.”

“Maybe we could just stop by, so you can tell the Oracle that you just wanna hang with us,” I suggested. I mean, Talia’s like a mother figure to me, and to Rhen, too. We’d miss her, too.

“Okay. Let’s go. I think it’s up there, if I remember correctly,” she said, pointing to a pathway right beside Teacup Town. We set out right away in silence. When we got to the Sun Shrine, my jaw almost dropped at the sight of the Oracle’s hair. Sure, there was no difference between when I saw her at the Empress’s palace and at the temple, but maybe I just didn’t pay attention to her appearance at the palace. She had the biggest bun of hair in the Northern and Eastern Isles, and possibly in the whole archipelago of the Arishta Isles. Bigger than Mom’s, even. And such amusingly detailed robes! Anyway, she and Talia talked, and everything went according to our wishes. Talia could stay with us.

Oh, and Talia's son (he's supposed to be the Sun Priest) wasn't there today. Talia looked worried and relieved at the same time. I wonder why?

Then we rode a boat to the Eastern Isles, where we saw a little house isolated from civilization. On a nearby dock there was a small boat. It was the boat dealer’s residence. It was then that we realized that we should have our own boat so we could use the docks on the two isles that the boat company never uses. We stopped by and had some small talk with the boat dealer. Then Rhen asked if he could sell the boat to us, and he refused. But he might if we find him a wife. He wants an exotic one. Maybe he’d like the woman who’s waiting at the Wildwood entrance. Then the problem would be: would she like him? The boat dealer isn’t what women would call attractive. I guess we’ll just have to find out.

By the time we reached this tavern, I was getting sleepy, and Rhen had already walked into a tree three times. So it was pretty obvious that the hind would live for one more night. We’ll turn the hind to stone first thing in the morning tomorrow.
