Update! Ugh, sorry for the long updates nowadays... I'm quite busy with another project, and as well I've got a lot of... unfinished things to take care of. -_-" Thanks for bearing with me, anyway! Though, to say the least, if you guys have any ideas please tell me. My brain is about the size of a shriveled raisin as of late. T_T
======================================= The Pendragon Conspiracy Pairings: Lars/Rhen, Dameon/OC ======================================= It was ludicrous. Dameon didn’t know exactly what he was supposed to think at the moment. For one, the corrupt Chancellor had decided that since the woman was to replace Rhen (he loathed that thought with all his heart) she would be taught the ways of the Princess of Thais. For another, he was required to watch her form—as if by doing so he’d forget about Rhen altogether. Ludicrous, he thought. Simply absurd. The horrendous excuse for a woman began barking out instructions to the demure Priestess. She was told to hold her stance, practice her curtsy and bow her knee. Luckily, as a Priestess they were required to display poise up to some degree—which helped her greatly in conducting the tasks given to her. Only on one aspect did she fail—and that was to smile every time. Pity, Dameon thought. We’re both prisoners in this illusion. “Now bow on your right knee and—oh, not too far! Oh fine, you may have a five minute break. But I’ll make sure that it isn’t a minute too more!” Finally, he thought relieved. A five-minute bliss of none of the woman’s words, as well as watching a person he didn’t love act like a princess. Blowing off a lock of his hair, he leaned on the royal armchair luxuriantly. Little did he suspect the demure woman walking up beside him. “Sir Maurva,” she spoke, her voice as gentle as the wind. Dameon looked up, his heart piercing once more as he looked into her amethyst eyes. They looked all too much like Rhen’s, which disparaged him greatly. He instantly looked away before her lost it. “What do you want?” he spoke dully. Instantly, a cup of tea was brought up to him—making him all the more confused. He looked back up at the Priestess, who seemed quite concerned about him. “Lately, you’ve been looking quite down. I thought that it would be nice if you talked about your feelings in order to help you vent out your frustrations.” He stared at the cup of tea as if it was laced with poison, then pushed it away haughtily. “I have no need for your concern.” The cup of tea was brought back up. “Then you may at least drink!” the Priestess demanded in her calm way. She looked sick with worry. “You haven’t eaten nor have you drunk a single drop these past few days. I’m worried for you.” He looked away from her defiantly, yet she still continued. “If I could bring the Princess back, I would. But after I was taken from my temple, all my powers and capabilities were stripped from me. So you may at least try to regain your strength!” Dameon laughed bitterly. “Food? Drink? I have no desire for them. Don’t you see, my dear Priestess?” He lowered his head down. “Without Rhen, all of this is useless.” She stared at him in concern for a few more minutes. Finally, the tutor called her back. “I—I must go.” She spoke in a slightly defeated manner. Resting the cup of tea on the table near Dameon, she headed towards her tutor. Yet taking a look backwards, she spoke, “If there is anything that you need, you may call me.” And off she went. There is nothing, he thought bitterly. Nothing but Rhen. ========== Her eyes popping open, Rhen shot up from her seat. The sun had not come up yet, but she was as alert as ever. Her heart beat as quickly as a hummingbird’s, and emotions swirled around her chest like a whirlwind. Dameon, she thought longingly, putting her hand onto her heart. What are they doing to you? She glanced at the bed opposite to her, with Lars sleeping in as expected. Pulling the covers off her, she was surprised at how cold it was—although it was barely winter. Placing her feet into her boots, she walked around as she waited for the sun to rise. Lars twisted and turned in his sleep as if he was having a nightmare. He seemed to be muttering a word over and over again, a ghastly word that disturbed his dreams. Curious, Rhen leaned in closer—shocked at what the boy what muttering “…Guns…” he muttered despairingly. “Don’t shoot… Chancellor…” Don’t shoot the Chancellor? she thought, bewildered. Leaning in closer, the boy continued to mutter something in his sleep. “Dameon… dodge… bullet…” he muttered, with every word like poison on his lips. “Rhen… save yourse—AAH!” Lars then shot upwards, which gave Rhen the shock of her life. Her face was in a dangerously close range to his as he shot up, which made her hypothalamus shoot up a few hundred degrees. Lars looked as puzzled as she did. “Rhen?” he spoke incredulously. “What are you—“ “Oh, me? Hahaha… funny, I was going to ask the same question!” she spoke nervously, inching her face a bit farther from the awkward position. Her cheeks reddened as she saw that Lars was shirtless—with only the blankets to cover his bare chest. She froze in place. “Uh… Rhen?” he spoke quizzically. “Anything the matter?” This snapped her back to reality. Looking up, she made a sheepish smile. “Oh, anything the matter! Hahaha… Lars, you are a funny boy, you! Haha… hahaha…” She took a quick glance at his torso, making her cheeks redden even more. Who knew that Lars had such a manly figure… “You’re freaking me out.” He spoke, a grave look on his face. Taking hold of his blanket, he spoke, “You know, I’ll just go put on some decent clothes and—“ “N-N-No!” Rhen exclaimed, which made Lars more confused than ever. The blush came back to her face. “I’ll—I’ll just go and get your clothes for you! You can go change in your bed! No worries!” She spoke so quickly that Lars couldn’t grasp a single word she said. Rushing to the closet, Rhen clutched the wooden handles tightly. “See! I’ll just find you some new clo—“ Rhen trailed off as she opened the closet—speechless as to what she saw. Those clothes—oh, what wonderful clothes!—were both immaculate and stylish at the same time. The Sword Magic Instructor’s outfit reminded her of those clothes worn by the town beauties in Clearwater… “Nice,” came a voice behind her. Turning around, it was Lars—completely shirtless with only his trousers. Rhen’s face turned as red as a tomato’s. “Didn’t I tell you to stay in bed?!” “But—“ “Back! Go back to bed!” “But what’s wrong with being out of be—“ “NOW!” ========== Shadwood was surprisingly beautiful in the sunlight. For instance, there were places unseen in the dark that were illuminated in the light: the crystal pond, the marble statuette, the golden décor. Even the Dragon tapestry seemed to gain more luster from the sun, as if it was a source of energy and life. The soft cloth of the Sword Magic Instructor’s outfit flowed until her feet, surprisingly; yet it was light enough for her to move about in case she had to do any tactical maneuvers. “Since it is your first day, I will assign the both of you to your corresponding rooms. Remember to stick to the curriculum, and I want no nonsense about any of you fooling around!” Headmaster Harald had said, simultaneously assigning them to their quarters. Fortunately for Rhen, the class she was assigned to seemed nice enough—no signs of mischief or any menacing aura. Unfortunately for her, they were all—to say the least, twelve-year-olds. Suck it up, Rhen, she thought steadfastly, turning to the class. Forcing a smile at them, she greeted them in a loud voice. “Good morning, students! I’m Rhen Darzon, and I’ll be your Basic Maneuvers tutor.” A once, the whole class gasped—sending a slight shiver down Rhen’s spine. “Rhen Darzon?” piped up a student. “The hero who saved everyone from Ahriman’s wrath?” “Shh!” piped in another student. “Don’t say his name out loud!” “Um… I guess you can call me that!” Rhen spoke nervously. Somewhere, somehow, she had foreseen something like this happening. And during those brief moments of foresight, nothing good ever did happen afterwards. She silently froze, getting ready for whatever mishap that would happen. “Oh my Oracle! It’s true!” piped in another student. Soon, they were all surrounding her—making Rhen regret ever getting out of the Wildwoods ======================================= Agh! So short. T_T I'll do better the next update, I promise! Thanks to all those who commented on this story! ^^

This is pretty cool. But what happens to poor Dameon? I like the AV1 ending best, but you are providing a cute alternative.

You're a pretty good writer, and your style is similar to mine. One thing I wanted to point out was you repeat yourself alot with adjectives and adverbs, which could be worked on. You have some really strong words and I like the metaphor with Rhen cutting her hair. Nice!
