On the characters: I haven't played AV2, so I don't know how the characters are/compare, but Mel doesn't seem like any char I've encountered before, personally. There's just something about her, I guess. Stella is my least favorite so far--a little too nice and/or bland just now. As for Lydia, I am hoping she stays largely mean. She seems to be that way mostly because she's power-hungry, and I'm thinking that's not as easy to change as, say, Lars just realizing he was really spoiled. (That's kind of how I saw it, I think.)
And on Galahad and Te'ijal's new looks... I do think I liked them better in AV1, but I could just be biased. (The white stripe doesn't really correlate to the sprite, though, so that has something to do with it as well.)

You know what's really weird is that as much as I wished Galahad would just leave me alone in AV1 (Rhen so did not need protecting), he's becoming my favorite character in AV3. It's something about the resisting his vampire desires, I think.

Wow, Aveyond is so beautiful. It reminds me of Mysten Far - both in AP [it's accessable by a teleport from a snowy forest, just like in AP] and in Av1 [looks very similar graphically.] I have always loved such mystical places in games - Aveyond, Mysten Far, priestesses' shrines and temples.

I have finished the game and going to explore yet the places that I haven't explored and fight around for gold and Exp. until the next part is out

Hey, I hated fighting Heptitus, but other than that it rocked. Although, i didn't know it was set up in chapters.... I was extremly surprised when it ended.

I love the game. The cities become so big! I especially love Thais. I always fond on this city and I'm sooo happy to find that it's MUCH bigger than in AV1 or 2. Bigger that AP, too <3

And the weapons...it's nostalgic XD

I read the first few pages of this thread and decided not to read more before posting. The reason is while i have finished the game, most of my enjoyment comes from figuring out the quests and storyline for myself. I only look at walk-throughs if i am completely and totally stuck. After the game i do go and check to see resolutions to things that i might not have been able to solve (i missed a whole storyline in AV2). In this thread and others there are too many hints about the next game in the series, even something as seemingly innocent as who might be included in the party in future is not something i want to know. The reason i mention this is not to complain but to explain why i may be repeating something that has already been said.

Anyway, i enjoyed the game but was stunned when it finished so quickly and abruptly. I somehow thought Aveyond took a lot longer than 20 hours to finish. I have read the explanations as to why it's short and they are reasonable, it is just that there was no expectation at all that this was the end, and i hadn't finished some of the quests. I realize it may be possible to finish them in the next game though. I would suggest to make the end quest a little more complex so it makes more sense when it ends.

I have gone back and restarted the game from the beginning, using the knowledge i have now to do a better job but i'm also feeling a bit like i'm cheating.

Other thoughts are, that i don't really like Mel. But then, Rhenn was always my favorite and i wasn't crazy about some of the characters in AV2 either. I would like to see more challenging side quests because if you have played the three previous AV games you kind of know the system to finish them. The other thing that i find tedious is that there are no shortcuts to some places that one has to visit often. For example, getting to the Professor's study was interesting the first time but after that it was just annoying. It would be in keeping with the subject he teaches if he had a secret entrance, so once you enter the academy you can get to him quickly, maybe by pulling a book off a library shelf or something and the shelf moves.

One thing that i really like is the inclusion of the eggs, because we really enjoy Grimm's Hatchery in my house. I like the disappearing corpses and think the character profiles are more interesting. I also appreciate seeing more comprehensive stats on the characters. I agree with others that it would be preferable to have the items closer to the top of the menu because that is the section i use most often.

I am looking forward to the next chapter and hope it comes out while i'm still in a country with high speed download capabilities! Meanwhile, the cubs will start AV2 today!

I finished it last night and I literally had to listen to music for ages to try to calm myself down. This is what Aveyond 2 *should* have been. IMO, Aveyond 2 was enjoyable but not up to the original's quality. But MAN, I couldn't stop playing AV3.

First off, Te'ijal's back! YAY! I just wanted to shreik with joy when she first appeared. And YAY, Galahad finally realized he loves her! And it only took him 300 years.

I liked Mel a lot. A protagonist who's nasty and somewhat cowardly, that was a neat change (though I still adore Rhen).

The beginning was awesome and gripping. I loved the switching between Mel and Te'ijal - and the opening quest actually moved the plot forward instead of being something mundane like picking flowers or gathering honey.

Another thing I appreciated was that you didn't have to spend so much time levelling up in order to get to the next area.

The eggs were a nice touch. I hope we get more pets in the next chapter.

The music, man it was gorgeous, especially Aveyond's new theme. I really, really hope we get to se Talia somewhere along the way.

Yes, the ending was abrupt, but it didn't bother me so much. All I can say about that is bring on the next chapter!

Finally finished again. I made the $100000 and I thought to suggest that the best place in the game to level up and make the most money and take the least damage would be at the steps by the empty cave in the south of the Istir Forest, killing off the five monsters.

O_O I don't think you should try so hard making that much money in LoT alone... in GoN there are plenty of chances to make all the money you want.

ok, I only registered to write a review on this game. I already played Aveyond I and II, and I could not wait for Aveyond III.

I really like the overall story line, and it is (in my opinion) absolutely ok to split a game into chapters. but I did not like that quests are triggered which can only be finalized in the next chapter - these games have such a big fan community, they do not need such kind of "cliffhangers"

I also disliked that the game is partly illogical - to play the game in vampire city I need to know all mis-quotations. however I can find them all over the kingdom at a time when I can no longer return to that place (apart from the fact that I cannot earn so much money at that place) - another cliffhanger I found quite annoying. Also the fact that there are quests which start in this game but cannot be finished in the next one (e.g. the stolen soul).

again, I LOVE these games. I also liked this one. but all the facts mentioned before really took fun off the game. I would recommend to better prepare the plot/gameplay before releasing a game. splitting of the game could have been done a bit better (in my point of view).

as said before, it is a wonderful game - but it could have been even better.

We do regret the way the game had to be split, but there wasn't really any other way/place to do so.

I read that the decision to split the game into chapters came after the storyline was more or less ready. in fact it wasn't so much the end of the game - it really were the quests in my journal I could not finalize (pirate quest, death certificate etc etc) - that could have been done much better. and also the lost soul - I would strongly recommend to include this quest into the next chapter, too. the story is built in a way that one had the feeling you must rush, leave that for later. when you realize that you cannot go back.

other than that the game is again fantastic. sad that you could not set sails already, but I truly look forward to the next chapter. it still IS a great game

just that I do not sound too unhappy with the game because I am not.

It wasn't only the storyline that was ready ... the game had already been made, been in beta testing for a few weeks, and was a couple days from release to the public. To have changed the quests would have required major rewriting and reprogramming and a huge delay.

We know it bothers some people, but it was really unavoidable. We may regret it, but can't do much about it.

We're delighted you like the game other than that. GoN will be way more wonderful, in my and other beta testers' opinions.

I hope GoN will have more of those skill-learning puzzles. Those were really REALLY neat, especially the one where you had to find two identical items. That one was really, really challenging, but great fun.

Yes, GoN will have more of the intelligence agencies for Mel to learn new things.

Hmm, maybe. I like everything at this game. And when I say everything, it's everything.

i have mixed emotions about this game. well, actually, there's only one thing i see wrong with it. it's way too short. everything else seems to be right on course. hopefully it won't be too long between chapters since it is such short gameplay.
