I finished the game in 11 hours.
Still seemed short for me though.

I hope the 2nd chapter will be much longer, my main characters are only at level 18.
If it's similar, probably the game will end at around level 40 only.

If that's the case, extra chapters will be good.

My total time/level for chaps 1+2 was around 21-22 hours and around level 40.

There is quite a lot to do in GoN, so it should take longer than LoT.

Finishing at level 40?
Sound a little too simple in my opinion.
It probably won't take long till my characters reach level 40.
I would like to see a huge twist at the end of GoN, to start Chapter 3 then.
But oh, well, I'll wait till December until I play it, Form 5 exams will kill me before that.

The twist in GoN is so huge, you probably won't see it coming but don't worry about the level 40 thing, since they'll probably be more chapters coming along.

I enjoyed Chapter 1 - as far as it went - but not having prior knowledge that this was not a complete game in one package, I felt a bit let down when there were so many unsolved puzzles left over at the end. Either there should be a warning attached to the game that it is only 1 part in many or there should be a more self contained ending that allows people to feel a bit more satisfied with the progress they have made.

Again, having purchased the game on Big Fish, I feel kind of "ripped off" to know that I will have to pay again to continue the game.

I am definitely looking forward to Chapter 2 (and however many more may be added). I just wish that it was coming out tomorrow instead of next month.

there should be only two unsolved quests in LoT: pirates and keys.

The real culprit is not Amaranth Games but Big Fish Games. I still don't think it's very fair of them to set a standard price on all games. RPG games take longer to develop whereas the typical casual game can be produced in six months or less.

So if you have problems with chapters, blame it on BFG and send them a letter of complaint.

It would, indeed, be noble, but who is really going to complain that the games they buy are not expensive enough?

Haha..good point. Boy...everyone here seems to be making great counter points to my arguments. I guess I'm saying, don't complain to Amaranth Games that the chapter system has to be used. It's really BFG's fault for their pricing structure. They should have different prices, and allow the developer to choose a price.

But if games are all set at different prices, I'm sure people will complain and moan about higher priced games and want them at the lower price.

The main point that I get from it all is that people have certain expectations about the quality and length of specific games (in this case AV games) regardless of the prices. They want everything very cheap but still want the highest quality and long length as before. And I must say some of the games that they sell at BFG at the same price, pale in comparison.

If the prices goes down, something has to give. Luckly, it's not the quality of the game, just the length of the game. And we get the extra bonus of more releases in shorter time

I don't blame Amaranth for the pricing structure at Big Fish. In fact, knowing that the game was from Amaranth made me really want to buy it, because I know that the games are quality all the way.
My main point is/was that it would have been nice for Big Fish (or someone) to indicate that the game was going to have parts that were not yet available.

As to unfinished puzzles, I meant more than just the stated puzzles of Pirates and Keys. I include the Golden Egg, the shovel, Gepetto (I'm sure that his toys will have a purpose), the pot of glue (that one really has me wondering),the casino and a bunch of other things - not to mention the rest of the world..

Dangit - now I REALLY want to play Chapter 2. Maybe I can get put into an induced coma until it is ready ....

All those other things you've listed will come into play in chapter 2. You won't be able to help Gladamere at the casino if you haven't done so already, but you will be able to take on Marcello's wager - if you're keeping your eyes open through the game, looking for that book as you travel

I love the game but I have to admit I was a little dissapointed because it was sooooo short, and in the long run, paying ten dollars for such a short game every couple months...we will be spending a lot more money just to finish the story! This is my opinion, what does everyone else think?

As I said before, I really enjoy the Aveyond series. I will probably continue to buy the game even with the obvious issue. However, I bought the game with a certain expectation of what I was getting. To find out it was only half of what past precedent had indicated, I was a bit peeved. I understand there are costs and that $6.99 is better than $20 and blah blah blah. Heres the thing- I dont care. Its not about the money. Its about the fact that the second chapter is estimated one or two months away (not very far off), and that I will have to purchase at double the cost of what I was expecting. The number doesnt matter, the principal does. If she doesn't like BFG's pricing she doesn't have to distribute there. As so many of you have pointed out, many people decide to pay more by buying from the developer site. There was no mention on the site about the fact it was only half.

Point being I don't care about the amount. Its not about the number. Its about the fact I was expecting something and I didn't get it. AND, I am being asked to pay twice for something I would have only had to pay once for before. I buy a lot of games from BFG, theyre my secret addiction, should I should be punished for that?

Amanda has said she gets most of her profits from portals. And Big Fish Games is a big portal. It would be a horrible financial decision for her to stop sending games there.

And no offense, you could have come to this site to learn more about the game. Amanda had announced the chapter decision in May.

And you're still getting a discount from BFG.

And Im supposed to do expansive background on every game I buy from BFG? Isnt that what the 1 hr demo is for? Am I expected check regularly for every development to come from the site? I think you'll find that most casual users of Aveyond, like me, only come here when there is a new game out.

No, you don't have to check regularly. But I'm just saying you can't get mad at Amanda for what BFG does or does not say about the game.

Spacie: Would you feel the same if it had been prominently placed on Big Fish that this was part one and not both parts? If you wouldn't feel the same, that is Big Fish's error, and you are taking it up with the wrong crowd. Their website *does* suggest people will be getting the full game, but there is nothing Amaranth can do about changing the page that hasn't been done already.

If you would still feel the same way - then I ask you if you have ever read any series books or seen any series movies and felt this way about not getting all of it then - and having to pay to buy the next book or see the next movie. If you haven't felt this way about that circumstance, why is this different? I'm seriously asking, not judging....

To all the others (and Spacie): Everyone has made decisions and done things that weren't 100% fully researched before. I think a computer game is the least of it. If you say you haven't, you are a liar quite frankly. Given that Big Fish is showing (as of the time I looked) that this is still the complete game, and not everyone knows about this forum, website, or even bothers to research minutiae before buying a 7 dollar game, I think we are all getting worked up over next to nothing. Yes it shows on the main page that this is quest one. Yes Amanda has made no secret of it being in chapters. However, people have even acknowledged in these very forums that not everyone knows we are here. Spacie has every right to feel ripped off. If I bought a game under the assumption, based on advertising, that I was getting the full game, and suddenly I didn't, I would feel ripped off as well.

With that said, Spacie, you need to take it up with Big Fish Games, and not Amaranth. See if they can't work it out to your satisfaction, since they are the portal you purchased the game through, and it's their advertising that put you in the position. They might, and they might not, but at least you will have tried with the right group of people - and hopefully they will change the page ASAP to reflect the reality of the game.

I agree with you there. Amanda has no control over what BFG puts in the game description. She announced it at least two weeks beforehand. Also, as Mopiece pointed out, the main page of the game says "Orbs of Magic series,quest one" which you would have noticed if you played the demo.
You shouldn't have a go at Amanda just because the game was much shorter than you expected. As she previously mentioned, she is finding it difficult to earn enough money from making these games which left her with two choices:
1. Stop making aveyond games and make more games like yummy drinks factory.
OR
2. Carry on making the aveyond games but split them up into chapters so that a new aveyond game will be produced every 3-4 months.
Because she loves making the aveyond games she chose option 2. It shouldn't matter about the fact that it was shorter than the other aveyond games, it's quality was just as good. Also, it was much longer than most games you see on BFG. I love Amanda's games because she puts a lot of time and care into her work. She wants everyone to enjoy playing her games as much as she enjoys making them.

Spacie--it's also not the only time BFG has done that sort of chapter thing...hello the Ravenhurst series. However, if you take the time to research forums (easily googleable) about games before purchasing them, then you'd find out quickly that some games are meant to be extended and some aren't. Personally, I think getting one of the Aveyond games is AMAZING as there's always hours and hours of gameplay and gameplay that keeps you on your toes (vs. the typical time management, match 3, or hidden object games BFG usually sells). Amanda's games are incredibly thought out with fun plots, great music, and a lot of areas to explore. I don't love that we don't get the ending on this one, however it's only because these games are so well done that I just want to play and play!!!
