Quote from administrator shaz:
Before the decision was made to split the game into chapters, AV3, AV4 and AV5 were going to be a trilogy, all following the adventures of Mel. Each one was to be about the same length, or longer, than AV1 or AV2, and each was going to cost $20 for the full game. When the decision to split was made (resulting partly from the portal price drop), AV3 was split into 2 chapters, and the price was split in half. If you buy both chapters, you get what WOULD have been the full AV3, for the price you would normally have paid - a game a bit longer than AV1 or AV2, for $20. We assume, since AV4 and AV5 were both going to be about the same length, that they would also be split into 2 chapters each. But instead of calling them AV4 and AV5, they are now further chapters in AV3. They originally would have cost $20 each as well, and as chapters, they will cost $10 each. So originally you would have paid $60 for 3 unsplit games, but now you pay $60 for 6 chapters, and the intention is that they're being done in a way that will make it easier and faster to release each new chapter. Explanations from amaranth, herself: Hi everyone, I'm splitting Aveyond 3 into chapters. The currently finished game will be split into Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. Each chapter will cost $10. So instead of buying one large game for $20, you'll pay $20 for two chapters. This means that you will pay $10 for Chapter 1 and $10 for Chapter 2. So, if you play Chapter 1 and like it, you can buy Chapter 2 for $10. If you don't, you'll save $10. If you afraid that you are going to pay more because I'm splitting these games, don't, because you won't. Now... let's say you like the first two chapters (the Full Aveyond 3 game)... If you like these two chapters, I will make more. Each chapter will be 1/2 the size of a traditional Aveyond game. The difference is that instead of waiting 1-2 years per game, you'll wait around 4 months per chapter. This is a win/win for us all. Why? 1. You'll get to play new Aveyond games three times a year. 2. We won't have to start from scratch, so it will make it much easier to get new chapters to you faster. 3. If you don't like the direction of the story in a particular chapter, you can scream at us and we will change the direction of the story for you. 4. I have brought on help, so we will have a full-development staff to bring you new Aveyonds faster than ever before. (I will continue writing the story, btw). I want to get out of only delivering an Aveyond game every 1-2 years. It's too long between releases. Aveyond 3 has turned out to be a huge game, and it ends with a cliff hanger. Even at the end of this game, it wasn't really finished... in fact, it feels like it is the beginning of a much bigger story. It seemed to me that this would be a good game to turn into a series like Harry Potter. Hopefully, with this topic pinned to the top of the forum, everyone will read this explanation and some minds will be set at ease.
