i had been to beach but at the end of cave there is dead end, in swamp i went there but there is nothing except mudball

I'm in the beach cave at this part.

I tried exiting and entering the cave a few times hoping that it'll get unstuck but no such luck. Not a major glitch or anything (in fact its a boon for me as I can carry on without another difficult fight XD), just letting you know.

@chatmicky: You don't have to start over just do what latyss said.
@all: Please download the latest (4.0e) patch since there is a map I had left untranslated in earlier versions that will appear later in the game.

I can't get to the portal in the forest near the Tree of Knowledge. It's across the water and there's no bridge only one log at the other end. Help please!

You can go to a different portal until you find a way to cross that.

You need to complete the desperate housewife quest for that. Go to Tundra to rescue her husband and bring him home safe and sound to receive 2 mandrake roots

Well, I went to the Grotto but can't get past that shield to get to the portal. The option to deactivate it doesn't come up like it used to before. I couldn't beat the monster (after the chess game) then, hence had left it for later. But it doesn't work now and I have installed the new patch.
