I didn't bring the egg to the lady in the desert until just now and I'm trying to get Emma & Rye to wed. She didn't win the tournament, lost in the first round, so am using the second option in the walkthrough. Now, how long do I have to wait for the Salamander egg to hatch? Want to get on to the ending so I can start LOT. Would like to get all the games done by Nov when part 3 is due out. Thanks again for the help. Gramma

A little but how does Land of the Lost affect the hatching?

the land of lost dosnt affect hatching. but what i did was i gave the egg to the lady went out of the cave put the game on pause and walked away and came back an hour later un paused it and went in and it worked so try that.

I'm trying really hard to get the red salamander but it still gives me a golden one...I've visited the Land of Lost

Land of the Lost doesn't affect anything. Red or gold salamander hatching is random, so you'll have to pray for luck.

If you saved your game before returning to the cave, and you reload because you don't like the egg you get, it won't make a difference. Whether you get a red or gold salamander is decided when you give her the egg, not when you go to see what's hatched. So you need to save before you give her the egg, go do something for an hour and come back. If it's not the pet you wanted, you'd have to reload, give her the egg again, go do something for another hour.

The Land of the Lost has nothing to do with it

Unfortunatelly I didn't keep the save game before I gave the egg, so I guess I have two options, keep playing without Rye and Emma getting married or play again...well, thanks anyway

I don't understand: I saved my game AFTER an hour has passed, for the first time I received golden salamander, then I reloaded my game. I got red salamander for the second time! So you can randomly get a salamander from the hermit.

I've just checked the code again, and the choice between red/gold salamander is definitely made when you give her the egg, before the hour has passed.

Is there any chance you had two different save files?
