I got the red one so I was wondering...does the golden salamander lay golden eggs? if not, what do they do?

Yes that's right. The red salamander is essential for the Rye/Emma ending.

i got a question i am trying to get a red salamander because i got the egg for whats her face and it was a golden egg... but now no more eggs will show in the nest how do i get a red salamander now???

There will only be one salamander egg per game, so unless you have a saved game that is saved before you give the egg to Sabriyya, you have to start a new game to get the red salamander.
