Bringing insane news from Indonesia. There's a big fuss regarding a very retarded local "manga" which is obviously a total Naruto rip-off which FAILED epicly.
Firstly, take a look at the cover: ![]() Note the tagline saying "Next generation of Naruto". Now, given that 99% of the time the cover art is better than the art of the actual manga inside, can you imagine what the inside art would look like if the cover art is this dumb? The whole story is exactly like Naruto. The pages are traced off various existing manga like Slam Dunk and Cromartie High School, so the characters' faces change so much you can no longer keep track on which character is which. The pages that the artist drew without tracing are so bad I am 100% sure my drawings are better. The author/artist has the audacity to say in the "author's note" section that this travesty here is "a continuation of Masashi Kishimoto's dream". Seeing that the real Naruto is still running and Kishimoto is still alive, that statement made no sense whatsoever. The worst part is that this book cost Rp 30,000 (about US$3). It's twice more expensive than a regular manga which are sold at Rp 15,000 (about US$1.5)! Yes manga are so damn cheap in Indonesia, but the paper and ink quality is kinda not so good... Download scanlation of first chapter here, courtesy of a very kind person who actually bought it and sacrificed their time (and sanity) to scanlate it: http://www.mediafire.com/?zklczwmnjum I thought I'd mention that in the "credits" section (the list of Artists, editor, authors and whatnot) it's mentioned that there was a "translator". Given that this book is published in Indonesian and the author/artist herself is also Indonesian, makes you wonder what on earth is a translator needed for. WHAT HAS THE WORLD BECOME?????

I kinda wonder the author didn't realize that this would be a failure, especially since he's copied most of the things from Naruto and made a complete mess by mixing other anime in too.Looks like a total hodgepodge.
![]() My sympathies for the person who took the trouble to scanlate this..

OMG!
![]() What indeed has the world become? ![]() Whoever the mangaka is, I'd like to say to him/her, "What the heck are you thinking, dude?" ![]()

The world sure do have a lot of vegetables that need pulling. But I somehow agree with KTC at some point. It is plagiarism in itself, but it isn't as bad as copy-pasta-ing others' thesis.

I agree with KTC about the not a research/thesis/etc rip-off, as I know that the real author of Naruto did not bother to research for his manga.
But anyways, copying and pasting story and art from other existing mangas and trying to sell them at a higher price is plain dumb. @d_a: the translator is probably just to make the credits cooler. Like "look- it's a TRANSLATED manga from somewhere I don't know"

LOL It could have just been a parody.
But yeah, this isn't surprising. There are tons of knock-off, low-quality manga all over the place. Sailor Moon is a classic example.

It's not a parody, unfortunately. This is likea doujinshi, except that it's merely redrawing the comic. *sighs* It's a big deal because it kinda makes the country look bad.

@daeva:
makes country look bad: how so? I never even heard of this before you brought it up so I don't see how *one* manga can make the whole country look bad. If you dig enough, you'll find plenty of other manga plagarisms even worst then this. At least this is redrawing manga. I've seen one where it was stealing manga pics and just edit the speech bubbles. *facepalm*

KTC: maybe from within the country that kinda thing makes it look bad?

@wolfie: tourist buy manga in foreign countries that are not japan and/or their own? Weird. >_>
Also, this assumes tourist actually even know about manga/naruto. I mean here, a lot of people simply aren't into manga and its still mainly a specialized type of thing.

@KTC: At least that's what everyone's been telling me. Thought I'd share *shrug* Seems like it's not that bad of a mess after all.

is the 'everyone' meaning naruto fans? cuz if you mess with something fans adore, you'll get eaten. See star trek/star wars/etc. for big fanbase lash outs O_o!

Have you read about the plagarism by Gene Simmons's son? He pretty much traced pages from Bleach manga.

@ pandaba - I like sailor moon!
Alright, they may have overdone it what with something over 200 episodes. The end was a bit weird too.But it's still okay.I kinda wonder if the author of this manga was trying to mock Naruto, cuz 'Naburo' sounds like a pretty funny name to me.Maybe he was trying to compete or something, that's why he's selling them at a higher price?

i laughed when i saw that. i think if i showed all my friends they'd all laugh their heads off too.
i think there must have been some kind of hidden motive behind it. to me it seems humans are too smart to do something as unintelligent as that..

I dunno.... It's being published by a veeeery shady publisher that is known for producing real weird books so... *shrug* I HOPE it's merely a physical version of internet "trolling". Something the publishers did on purpose to rile up manga readers to go buy it or stuff.
I know someone who told me that his friend was hired to do pages for Naburo, but because he was so freaked out he refused.

@michael: It's hijacked off Naruto. and there's actually MORE translated, but I couldn't be bothered to post more link because it might a)Kill your brain or b)kill you from laughing too much.
@wyst: I did. It was so dumb and I was torn between laughing at it and exploding into a massive anger rampage.
