lucifier/asmodeus/leviathan do not work at all for a female name. Too many male attachments. (prince of darkness, evil snake in redwall, massive water creature)

Furfur/Gaap just sounds silly. like its a furry.

Daria reminds me of this

yuki sounds cute. its a popular japanese name too used for males and females i think. (Fruits basket and another used it for a male and female character respectively)

mammon sounds like mammoth. sounds like its dimwitted yet strong.

You know, it really depends on whether or not you want to include the characters from Aveyond in your story. Because if you don't include them, just use Agas. Agas is a friggin FEMALE in the original myth.

And of course, there's Lilith and Echidna, two of the greatest female demons in... some random myth I can't put a finger on. You can also "genderbend" names. Like Asmodeus becomes Asmodea.

How many names do you need?

Lillith of mostly mesopotamian orgins though she does appear in the hebrew bible.

Echidna is the mother of all monsters in greek myths. Though she might be confused for Knuckles of Sonic fame

also, since its daeavas you're talking about, why not pick an actual daeva? The ones in AV are only a small portion of the possible deavas.

lucifer/asmodeus/leviathan are always going to have male connotations to me. Applying them to females sounds like the female is trying to be 'manly' or something like that.

zepar has a male ish ring even without the male demon.

Also, another point you might want to consider: the names you listed don't really seem to 'blend' with the Daevas' names. Culturally, the names don't match at all. It's like lumping a japanese demon (yuki) and a christian/hebrew demon (lucifer) together under the label of persian/middle eastern demons (daevas)

hmm, than of what culture is she from? Is it like a different clan or an entirely different demon world of some sort? what is her history?

(i don't think daeva would be the right word here for her as she's not the same 'race' as the daevas. Though daeva agas will probably know more.)

There is somewhat a confusion about the term "daeva" because various sources say different things. According to the wiki entry, "daeva" is a general term for "demons" and that the arch-demons who are Ahriman's personal servants are just "higher-ranking daevas". In other sources it's said that the term "daeva" is restricted to the seven arch-demons serving Ahriman.

First, specify which "daeva" term you're going with. Are "daevas" special-class demons or are they just general demons? Then elaborate why is your demon/daeva not supposed to have a name that culturally matches the name of the daevas from Aveyond. Like KTC said, is she supposed to be from a different cultural background or a completely different kind of demon?

In the end it's really up to you. Find as many names as you can, and choose the one that suits your character the best. Like is the name a reflection of her personality? Does it have anything to do with her role in the story? Do you want the original myth to have any influence on the character's background? I can give you a very long rant on myths and names regarding my thought process in making my demon OC Aka Manah, but that's beside the point.

lol,leviathan,asmodeus,lucifer ARE used for the demons in a manga (with a long name i dont remember). Those demons were all girls but their names were the names of actual demons in the real world,probably included in a holy book idk. Mammon was supposedly the son of the devil (watch Constantine).

@suigintou: *cringe* Bordering Mary Sue-ness here... But anyways. We have to clear things up about YOUR daevas before I can really help you. Here's a list of questions, and please do answer them. I need clear info before I can do anything to help you.

- What is "daeva" in your mind? A rank? A social status? General term for demons, i.e all demons are daevas?
- Who turned your character into a daeva?
- What is her purpose in the story? As in, after she became a daeva, then what?
- If she wasn't a demon before, why would you need a demon name? Unless whoever turned her gave her a new name, but that would mean that you need to give her a name that matches all the other demons.
- When is the story set? Before/after/in the middle of Aveyond 1? Will it change the course of Aveyond 1?
- Do you want the original daeva myth to be involved in your story or are you basing it solely on Aveyond and your imagination?

My daevas and my daeva OC for comparison:
- "Daeva" is a position. There are to be 8 daevas and only 8. A daeva had to step down from his/her position for a new daeva to be recruited.
- My story is heavily influenced by the original myth, so my OC's (original character) name, Aka Manah, is taken directly from the daeva myth.
- Aka Manah is Agas' predecessor as daeva in my story, because I wanted to "bridge" Aveyond and the original myth. Agas is NOT supposed to be a daeva. Aka Manah is daeva, not Agas (read the wiki link KTC provided). So, here's the "compromise".

Can go into another very long rant about daevas, but this post is already TL;DR so.. Answer my questions, please?

If you run out of ideas, though, you can always read others' daeva-centered fanfics for ideas. Both kaz's "Agas Saga" and Rena's "Revolution" have something about humans turning into demons. Heck, in Rena's story ALL 7 daevas were once humans.

@daeva: wasn't he just a ridiculously powerful sorcerer? Don't remember being a demon in his profile. And anything we know of ahriman is hearsay/legends so they are bound to be exaggerated. *grumbles of lack of reliable info on ahriman besides he's a big baddy*

also, i don't think ahriman would be a 'daeva' as the daevas served him. I always thought of him being 'the big kahuna/boss man' and the daevas were his minions.

I know. Never said he is a daeva, unless you're assuming that when I said 8 daevas --> Ahriman is also daeva. In my story he IS a demon, though, since I'm basing a lot of my stuff on the original myth *shrug*
