Hiya everyone! My name's Reives/Kan from Freebird Games, creator of Quintessence - The Blighted Venom, The Mirror Lied, and Do You Remember My Lullaby.
After 5 years of making RM games, I'm very excited to announce that I am nearing the completion of my first commercial game, "To the Moon" [Romance/Drama/Sci-fi]. Click to enlarge poster: ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Original Soundtrack demo: click! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To the Moon is an unconventional RPG/adventure game, revolving around a reverse-chronological story that spans a life time. ![]() Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts have rather peculiar jobs: They give people another chance to live. Literally. ![]() There exists a technology that allows doctors to weave artificial memories, such that a patient can request attempts to alter their mind, and wake up with memories of things that didn't actually happen. However, since these new memories are permanent, the conflict between them and the existing authentic memories clash in such a way that it ceases the person's ability to properly function. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives. . . but didn't. ![]() But creating a new memory is not as simple as pressing a button. The technology allows the doctors to step into the memories of the patient, which are reconstructed as interactive scenes. The doctors then gradually traverse backwards through memories of the patient's life until they reach childhood -- at which point, the wish of the patient in present time would be transferred over. Along with the doctors' influence, the patient (as a child) could then lead an entire different life inside their head, working toward and fulfilling their dying wish themselves. And if all goes well, they would wake up, having lived the dream life they never had, and embrace a brief moment of blissful fulfillment. Shortly after, they'd draw their last breath. ![]() Every once a while, there comes a life that is rather peculiar. This particular story follows Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts' attempt to fulfill the dream of the dying elderly man, Johnny. In their mission to do so, they traverse backwards through the man’s memories, unfolding his curious life story before their eyes. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. And as the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish to be what it is. ![]() And Johnny's last wish is, of course. . . to go to the moon. ![]() *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** More info, updates, and screenshots will be posted on this thread as the game moves toward its release. The game'll be available at Freebird, and hopefully Amaranthia as well. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this project! All feedbacks are appreciated. And if you like this, please help spread the word! c: Cheers~ Reives/Kan

Heylo!
I like the plot of "To The Moon", as well as the graphics. The mapping looks really good and it shows the amount of effort put in. Quote: And Johnny's last wish is, of course. . . to go to the moon. That part touched me. The story(the unrevealed part) seems really beautiful and I can only wait to play to find out. It is in harmony with the Title you've chosen for the game which is in a way simple, but beautiful. In short, I love the presentation! Screenshots too! Is it me or does the music sound a bit mischievous in the middle? (owo) It starts off with a beautifully sad feeling, grows mischievous, then seems fun, then kind of related to normal everyday life and finally..well, I can't describe the vibe that the piano gives off. Like a final conclusion, but happy. (Okay, I know I'm a confusing person xD) But I heard five different tunes in all. Lovely! ^^

Hey, thanks ya two!
And yep Val, that soundtrack demo reel has 5 songs in it. c: Oh, speaking of the soundtrack: Laura Shigihara, the composer of Plants vs. Zombies (and her upcoming game "Melolune"; keep an eye out for it!) is kindly creating a special vocal song for To the Moon's soundtrack.

Wow, that's certainly great news.
Is it the voiced version of an already existing song, or is it an original one? (Personally I would like To River voiced haha)

It'll be a new original song which she herself will be composing and singing, so I'm sure it'll be great. c: And TtM/For River actually will be voiced as well; the vocal version of it plays at the ending credit, and I'll be the one singing. I may have posted a mock-up of it at one point, but it was really preliminary and rough.

The plot for this game has to be one of the most original I've seen in quite some time. Here's to a successful release!

Glad ya like it Indra. And if you want to try my other games, I suggest Quintessence - it's a RPG and is completely free. Hope you'll like it! My games tend to be more story/presentation-oriented without as much focus on leveling/itemization and the like.
