http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknew ... und-guilty-of-murder.html
A schoolboy who murdered a former girlfriend for a free breakfast went online just hours after the killing to sympathise with her mother and to highlight the “normal” evening he was having, it has emerged. Joshua Davies, 16, can be named for the first time today after being found guilty of murder by a jury at Swansea Crown Court. He lured Rebecca Aylward, 15, to a secluded wood and then used a rock the size of a rugby ball to smash her skull with at least six brutal blows to the back of the head. Davies then went to a friend’s house where he drank tea and bragged about what he had done. That evening, he created an alibi by posting messages on social networking site Facebook claiming he was "chilling out with friends" while watching Strictly Come Dancing. After Rebecca’s family had reported her missing, he used the website to feign concern. In one exchange he wrote: "I feel sorry for her mother." When asked why, he replied: "Well if I was a parent I'd be worried if my daughter was missing." Davies showed no emotion as the jury delivered its 10-2 majority verdict, which was met with brief cheers from Rebecca’s family. Mr Justice Lloyd Jones lifted an anonymity order because of the "strong public interest in open justice." He said: "This is a crime that has affected a small enclosed community. It is right that the public should know that there has been a conviction and who is convicted." Davies, who was said to have had a “love-hate” relationship with Rebecca, had calmly discussed the various ways he could kill her with a group of friends whom he met for breakfast every Saturday morning in Aberkenfig, South Wales, the jury heard. Over a cup of tea and a full English, he disclosed that he was considering poisoning, drowning or pushing her off a cliff, bragging about how he would "get away with it" and how he could "cover up" the killing. After one such meeting Davies sent a text to a friend asking: "What would you do if I actually did kill her?" The friend replied: “Oh, I would buy you breakfast.” On the day of the murder, last October, Davies met the group as normal before leaving to meet Rebecca. Before he left, he said: "The time has come." Having told them he intended to kill her they later called him and asked whether he was with her. "Define with," Davies replied, suggesting that they might be together but that she was no longer alive. After the killing, Davies summoned two friends to the forest and told one to pull back her hood to see if she was dead. Greg Taylor, prosecuting, told the court that he had then described how he had killed the GCSE student. He said: “Joshua told his friends: ‘She was facing away from me and I thought: This is it, I'm going to go for it. I tried to break her neck. She was screaming so I picked up the rock and started to hit her with it. "The worst part was feeling and seeing her skull give way’”. Davies spent the evening at his aunt’s house, where he acted as if nothing had happened, watching violent thriller No Country for Old Men. The schoolgirl's body was found face down in the rain the following day after one of Davies’s friends contacted police and led them to the scene. One school friend said he was “obsessed” with killing people. After his arrest, police found a concoction of poisonous foxgloves which he had planned to slip into Rebecca's drink. A friend of Rebecca's said: "Everyone heard that Josh had all these different ways he talked of killing Becca, but despite all that she still wanted to be with him. No one thought he was being serious, least of all Becca. "Becca worshipped Josh but he took advantage of all of that. She wanted to go out with him again.” Her mother Sonia Aylward told the court that her daughter had thought Davies wanted to meet her to rekindle their relationship. She said: "She got up at six o'clock that morning to get ready and to do her make-up. She put on her new clothes, bought the day before, she was wearing them for the first time. "Rebecca sounded really happy when she saw it was him coming down the hill towards her.” During the trial Davies blamed a 16-year-old friend, who cannot be named, for her murder. The friend insisted that when he arrived at the scene Rebecca, from Bridgend, was already dead. The judge adjourned sentencing for psychiatric reports. _________________________ What kind of sick person could do this? People like these deserve the Death penalty. What a sick person. Who cares if he's a minor Though more importantly, I feel his 'friends' should be convicted too. You know, if someone tells me that he was going to kill his girlfriend, I'd tell the parents of the girl if she wasn't listening. And the Bet is just sick

He is, of course, very "sick" in the sense that he is enamored of violence - certainly no teen (and probably no adult) should love movies like No Country for Old Men. I too think that his friends are irresponsible to make light of a threat to kill someone, but being teens - they are NOT making rational decisions. Their brains are not developed that way. It does make a difference. The death penalty does not bring this girl back and does not solve our problem when we glorify violence and hold the lives of others cheaply. We have all failed when we resort to violence to solve our problems.

He's sick. He is said to obsess killing, and therefore a mouse came to his house to be played.
He should have given a psychology treatment for the obsession. He likely lost his common sense. Maybe this comes from watching too much. I'm not sure if he's to be jailed, since he could turn to be more vicious afterwards. But he really needs to realize that what he done is definitely a serious crime.

Whoa. Highly disturbing. What is he, a sociopath? To be so casual about killing another...I think he doesn't realize the gravity of his actions. He has grown detached from his conscience.

He definitely has some mental issues. I disagree with ljspence though.
Liking violent movies as a teen doesn't necessarily mean the kid has a problem. And I'm tired of people blaming movies, video games, or music when a teen commits a murder. It's not the games, the movies, or music's fault. Most teens watch, play, or listen to this stuff and take it for what it is. They don't act upon what they see or hear. So stop scapegoating video games, music, and movies. I do think he needs to get psychiatric help and not jail. I also think his friends should get some jail because they knew about his ways before the girl was killed. As for the death penalty, I'd say the kid deserves it. I know the Supreme Court allows for the mentally ill to get the death penalty, but I'm not sure if the UK justice system does. Never mind, appears the UK doesn't allow the death penalty for anyone.

I doubt the kid's behaviour has anything to do with the movies he watched. What is despicable is that he created that fake site. What kind of a sick person does that?

if I got my 'criminal minds' cap correctly on, sounds like he's a sociopath:
Little emotion connected to the crime, the planning, the need to kill, no remorse for his actions. I think his friends should be punished because they encouraged and apparently even helped with the crime (seeing if she was dead yet). @lj: gotta disagree with you on the violent movies. My childhood (and many others) consisted of R rated movies/videogames and we're not lopping heads off. Blame what should be blamed, which would be this mentally ill creature here.

I dunno what will be the verdict on this kid...but I'm wondering whether he has a chance to be reintegrated into society (assuming, of course, that he avoids the worst lot the law can throw at him). I'm no psychiatrist, so if he's really a sociopath, can his mentality be, I dunno, reversed? Changed?

@smirk: based on my googling abilities, treating sociopaths is a case by case basis. Sometimes it works, other times not. Though there's not many facilities who treat sociopaths so problems there.

Google-fu is always a useful skill. 8D Eh, I suppose the guy will get the slammer or the bedlam. Then again, I feel that a person like that should be far, far away from civilization.

I think that what this kid did was terrible. He obviously needs mental help, and he needs to realize the consequences of his actions. It sounds almost like he was totally unaware of what could happen to him if he was caught. Maybe he did know and just didn't care.
I wonder, though, if his friends actually thought that he would follow through with the murder. I know that many times, people jokingly discuss killing people: "I'll kill you if you touch my diary." or "If you do that again, you're dead." His friends may have thought that he wasn't serious, as he had talked about ways to kill his girlfriend many times before. I also think that the friend may have been joking when he talked about buying him breakfast. I do think that his friends should have said something to the police about his behaviour sooner, though.

@Yuffie
But there is a difference from saying "I'll kill you if you touch my diary" and discussing how to kill someone. And his friends should have picked up that there wasn't something right with this kid.

@Mopiece: I suppose so. I know people who just joke about talking about how to kill people, though. There is a difference, though, you're right. They should have gotten something about him being not well mentally. Sometimes people don't have any kind of insightful skills at all.

I think that killing people for a bet is wrong, and bragging about his murder, just looking at this topic makes me sick. Boy that is a messed up kid.
Just asking, was he mad? Or just really just hating his relationship, i certainly wouldn't end a relationship like that. Imagine killing someone over spilling a jug of milk.. I completely disagree on how videogames and movies affect your life, i watch and play gory, violent games sometimes, i watch anime like school days and im not blowing heads off with my trusty shotgun (well if you call a rubber band shooter a shotgun). This guy really does need help, and as for the death sentence, well... maybe, depends if the murder was intentional murder, or just for fun. Phycology and some therapy should do some help.

This is just downright disgusting. It saddens me to see just what kind of things are happening to the world nowadays - and especially with teenagers. How many school shootings have we heard of already? Shouldn't we begin to think just how we should be educating teenagers nowadays? This isn't a singular case. More and more teenagers are showing signs of such sick mindsets just to look "cool" in front of their friends - this is just sickening. Honestly.

True, this isn't he only one who should be having the "Death Sentence", hundreds of Teens are doing this to impress or for "Pleasure", what a sick boy...
The part where i nearly vomited was "When her skull gave way" Couldnt have you just ended a relationship by simply saying, i cant do this anymore, or would you HAVE to kill them? In the UK, the death sentence isn't part of what "they" do, but stopping this death sentence, could this encourage people to do more crime? I dont know.. Gaming doesnt affect the way you think, movies that sort.. I just watched Shaun of the Dead and it includes alot of gore content, so far, i havent done anything...

that is sick, most people don't know (and don't want to admit) that they're mentally ill. He's a minor, he can't have death sentence. what will he do after this, counseling? probation? I don't know but I believe he deserves worse.

He didn't kill his girlfriend because he hated the relationship. He just said obsessed killing, which ended up being his girlfriend as his easy prey.
