At least 92 people are reported dead due to a bombing in Oslo, Norway, and an allegedly connected shooting at an island nearby. 82 of those dead came from the shooting, which lasted 90 minutes before the police were able to arrive.

The prime suspect of the attacks is a right-leaning Christian fundamentalist extremist. He has, as of this time, only confessed to the shootings, but there is evidence to suggest that he is responsible for the bomb as well.

I have family in Norway.
It was really terrible for me to wake up the other day seeing my mom doing what looked like trying to burn the curtains. After that, it was even more terrible to hear she was "Lighting a candle for all the dead in Norway."
Luckily, nothing happened to my family. But it's very sad about those people.

I also heard about the one that did it. In the news it was told he had been on a Nazi webside or something.

Denmark is closer to Norway, so we might get the news first. Very sad and terrible

It's a horrific attack. I'm just glad the attacker was caught. That way, hopefully the victims and their families can get closure from his subsequent trial.

Yes, But i don't suppose it was more horrifying than the mumbai Blasts ! I was actually in the taj hotel! Thankfully I got out!

That doesn't take away from the fact it was a horrific attack and a tragedy for Norway and its people.

It's absolutely terrifying knowing I was in Sweden just a half week ago. If we had taken a family trip like we've done before, We could have been in Oslo o.o

I was absolutely horrified when I heard the news because Norway is probably the most peaceful country in Europe. I don't know if we have Norwegian members (I know we have from Sweden and Finland) but if we do I hope they and their families are safe. My condolences to all those who lost someone in this massacre,may they all rest in peace.

@Gamezsplash I'm sure it was horrifying for you to survive that but in case you didn't notice this thread is about Oslo, Norway and the thing that happened in there so pls stay on the topic. Also these kind of tragedies happen around the world every day and they are all horrifying you can't say that the bombing in dunno where was more horrifying...YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HUNTED DOWN ON AN ISLAND LIKE IN HORROR MOVIE FOR GOD'S SAKE!!

It is terribly tragic and horrible to see hatred of others result in the killing of innocent people. My prayers go to the people of Norway.

We have a lot of work to do to create peace in a world awash in violence and prejudice. I am disgusted and horrified that someone who calls themselves a Christian could do something like this which is the exact opposite of what Jesus lived and taught.

I think that this bombing/shooting was horrible. Being quite far away from where this happened, I don't feel as horrified as some of you who are closer, though. I'm going to be very happy when this criminal receives his sentence! It's terrible that something like this would happen.

I have friends from that area, though, and I really hope that their families are okay!

My thoughts and prayers go to the victims, their families and Norway.

I cannot fathom how something as cruel and heartless as this, must feel.

Hopefully they will lock the criminal away for life.

@welovemel: because he thinks he's warring with the muslims who are 'taking over' his country. Any deaths that happen by his hand are unfortunate but justified sacrifices to the larger scheme of things.

It is horrible beyond measure, the events that took place in Oslo.

I strongly disagree with the Norwegian law in this case, for, from what I recall, the terrorist can be sentenced to maximum 21 years. How is that possible? In other countries, that sentence is given after one or two murders. But not 92!

I feel angered by the easiness he got away with such a horrible act, let alone the number of deaths.
