Not sure what happened. It was just fine two days ago. All out of a sudden, I can't open RMXP or any game made with RMXP. If I try to open a game, I get "RGSS player has stopped working" meassage. Followed by this problem detail:

I try the "Run as administrator", reinstalling, restarting the computer, changing compatibility mode... Nothing works. I might have downloaded or updated something that caused this to crash, but I can't remember what. I've tried uninstalling all my newest programs and nothing happens still.

im running into a simalar problem to. i cant play my game out side of test mode. i need help. the last time before my computer crashed i could but this is a totally diffrent hard dirve. help!

edit: i can play test mode and open rmvx but cant find the one that isnt a test mode. the one where you cant use the ctrl button

I have been having problems with this game, I have played it before, so not so urgent! but I am desperate to get it sorted with next one coming out soon!!
This is what it says when it starts up an it stops working : it does it to all the aveyond games, laxius/deadly sin/whisper of a rose etc... Doesn't matter where I bought them from, suddenly they all stopped working?? I have posted this question several places so far nobody has been able to help me, but I saw a similar problem on technical - so hopefully someone can??

I wonder if it could be something that's auto-updated as part of a Windows update? Graphics or audio driver, maybe?

i dont get the error message. i just cant find one thing. its like it was never installed. you know like it was the rmvx game icon isnt there (the play test that doesnt allow ctrl button).

Since it's not related to the original subject, and it's not related to the Aveyond games, but the editor and a game you're developing, I suggest you start a new topic in the Homemade Games - Questions forum, if you want to investigate it further.

d_a cannot open the editor at all, and cannot play any games made with either engine. It sounds like your issue is quite different, as you CAN open the editor, and you haven't stated whether or not you have issues playing any games.

i mean i only experiace part of it. i can open the editor, i can not find or open the game i made with the editor. i can only play test not play the non play test. youknow the icon of the chest peice. i can only find the icon linked to the icon shower. so im in a half and half zone.

I don't know what happened. At all. I tried uninstalling all the new programs I downloaded, but nothing happened. I had a friend look it over together with some other problem and he said the registry has been corrupted.

If that were the case, I'd expect reinstalling to fix it.

I'll ask Bryce to come by and take a look.

wait! i think i can help. tell enterbrain that your problem. or talk to someone who has rmxp knowleage. but i would recommened what shaz says at the same time. but look at enterbrain's fourms before telling them.

edit: lets hope you didnt forget .net framework service pack 1 because i ran across that myself last year.

what about system restore-ing to the last working date?

It's what I do when vista inevitably gives me grief.

i never heard of that. what does it do?

It rolls back your operating system to the date you choose, getting rid of any updates that were made since that date. If a system update had caused this issue, then a rollback (system restore) should revert and maybe solve the issue.

The problem as reported by luveyfluffy is the %AV_APPDATA% environmental variable path issue.

If you are having this, please write "Support @ Amaranthia.com" and I'll send you a tool I wrote to addres this.

The issue with the crash is related to Windows DEP setting. This is a result of the way that RMXP unpacks itself before process execution.

You need to turn off DEP for this process... you can do this via the following steps:

1. Open System by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

2. Click Advanced System Settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3. Under Performance, click Settings.

4. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select... then select your game.

Um, I got my hard disk partitioned and installed another OS on it. Will system restoring it cause the partitioning to be removed?

It shouldn't remove the other OS.
