This is NOT a contest hosted by Amaranth Games, but I suspect there may be a few people here who would be interested, so wanted to bring it to your attention.
Below is the contest, as detailed on RPG Maker Web's Blog. Make sure you check THERE for further clarifications to the rules, and to ask questions - any answers to questions here would be based on what's there, or speculation, and may not be accurate. Quote:

I've read about this at rpgmaker.net
Too bad I'm never a fan of those squished up sprites. :/

I'm not fond of them either, even after all this time.

Well, we all know we can just use RMXP sprites for VX, so that's not an issue at all.
I'm warming up to VX after discovering Parallax mapping, even though I still have no clue on how to do it.

Yeah but the tilesets are also squished up.
Is parallax mapping the one you click and the 'background' goes black? You know, like when you enter a house, it's black around it.

No, that's not parallax mapping. This topic by d_a explains it.

Oh I see o.o
Why not just use XP then if you don't like VX tilesets?

You CAN use XP tiles in VX and Ace, but it takes a bit of mucking around to get them set up, and it's not as flexible as XP since there's one layer less to use (and VX/Ace don't make layers truly independent like XP). That's why parallax mapping is so popular with VX.
Ace has some really nice stuff that makes it worth considering. I use XP now, but I'm getting familiar with Ace, and once I'm comfortable with it, I'll probably switch - but I may still use XP tiles and characters with it.

@Ivana: I don't really like XP because I cannot make a tileset for the life of me. I know I can use parallax mapping in XP too, but it's inconvenient because in XP I can't setup the Parallax to show up in the map editor while VX lets you see the parallax in the editor.

This contest is over. Shouldn't this contest be taken out of the Fairgrounds forums?

No. Contests are not removed from here after they're done. They just fall off the "Last 100 days" to show by default. If you change your view to "From the Beginning", you should see just about every contest that's been run here.
The only things that are ever moved out of this forum are the subforums for the guild or site-wide festivals. This thread is not related to any of those ![]()
