What's your favourite one and why?
As for me, rmxp used to be my favourite but now it's rm2k/r2k3. I've noticed that a lot of games from rmxp have little interactions with objects. Like the barrels and vases for instance, almost all of them contain nothing. The most that has a content are probably the bookshelves. Also, it's not 'suitable' with stories with a darker/"serious" theme. Too cutesy and colorful to make the desired effect. And the battles mostly are 'turns', not affected by agility. As for rm2k/rm2k3, it's because the graphics don't look so cartoony and gives of a more realistic feel. More interactions with objects. The one in my hate list would be rmvx though. I HATE the squished up graphics!! >< I'd never play a game if it's made by rmvx. Moved to Spam Haven where all the favorite topics belong. ~Mopiece

The interactions are determinated by the makers, if you don't create an event a barrel will be empty, if you put an event they will contain something. So the battles, you have to change the values of atk, def, agility etc to make the battles more realistic, the way they are calculated is the same I think, but you have to work on them. So the graphic, you have to work with athmosphere, paint the screen with dark colours and fogs, right music and maybe an adapt tileset and charsets. It doesn't depend on the engine, but on the makers and the use they do with the program. I don't play games with awful maps. I don't like wide empty maps with things put in line, in any engine XD But I love the XP graphic more than 2003. I don't like the vx graphic generally, too squared but if I see nice maps not too empty or big and useless I'd play. Depend. For now I like XP most.

I know it depends on the makers for the interactions, but it's because most rmxp games that I've played have little interactions so what's why I've said it.

As Juunanagou says, interactions all depend on the maker indeed. Reives's games are made with XP, and you can interact with pretty much anything.
I've played lots of darker/serious games using XP or using its graphics. And some of them were so scary, I had to take some breaks from the game from fright. Battle system can be changed, if needed. I've seen XP games with the agility system. My favourite RM is XP. I like the XP graphics, the (standard) VX ones are ugly. The graphics in RM200/03 make my eyes hurt. I'm not a fan of it. I've tried some 2000/2003 games, but always had to quit, because I couldn't get used to the poor graphics. (But no doubt, there are some awesome 2000/2003 games out there.)

Really? o.o Aveyond was using the agility system so dunno about others...
'Survival' games doesn't count xd You're referring to those games by XP that's one of those escape-before-killed-by-madman right? Maybe I got used to the darker tones of rm2k so that's why I'm not fond of the bright graphics in XP ![]() But yes, there are plenty of awesome games made my rm2k. Three the Hard Way is one of them. It totally beats any of those nds/psp/xboc/pc or whatever type of games ![]()

fav = rpg2k3 cuz that's the only one I know how to use lol. I don't make games obviously, but I learned a lot from messing with APv1 and APv2.1

That's weird. I've remembered you mentioning to me that you don't know mapping in rm2k3 but you know how to use it?? o.o That's kinda ironic lol

You sure you ain't getting us mixed up? I did tell you I don't do mapping with rm2k3. I could hardly map with RMXP and VX. Unless 2k3 is somehow easier to map with than XP or VX, I'm useless at mapping.
Oh well. My current favourite is XP. Just... coz. Like I just mentioned, though, I'm still failing at mapping because I'm all "Ooo shiny! Wants that on map!" and my map is hard to navigate through due to all sorts of pointless junk inefficiently placed throughout the map. Warming up to VX since I discovered Parallax mapping. Still have yet to understand how that works, but I swear I WILL figure it out someday!

@ivana: Why would I learn to map if the maps are already there?
APv1/2.1 are already mapped out and ready to go so I never learned to map beyond fixing some minor map glitches and making room clones. What I mainly did was 'reverse learning' the code. The code has already been written and I learn enough rpg2k3 to modify/make my own code from it. APv2.1 was particularly challenging since everything was custom code.

@ivana: Sort of.
I can do a lot of stuff to APv1/2 just by backtracking and learning how the code works. But if I was making my own game, I would be clueless since I didn't actually write any of the code myself and I still don't know how everything is connected. Example: I still can't figure out how to add/delete monsters to APv2.1.
