The Asylum isn't a normal one. It's like a boot camp-the doctors think that the patients need discipline. It's not discipline, though. It's torture. Not like anyone cares, anyway. People think that it's okay to do that, so long as there crazy. Many people didn't even know of the Asylum. Some people wan to help, but they can't. So, the patients break for it. Some of the patients don't even belong there. That's where the RP begins.

I need 5 Escapees (Escapees from the asylum, either ones who didn't do anything, or really did something. Floranne was thought to be insane, and was put in the asylum, when she didn't have to be.)
I need 7 Nurses (Not really bad guys, just trying to do their job. They try to find and take the Escapees back to the Asylum.)
I need 9 Hiders (The nice people who let the Escapees stay with them, and tell them about how to fit in.)

I'm NOT joining this... I just have to point out that if the people have been blamed for something... then it's a behavioral correction facility or something like that... but if they're just plain crazy, THEN it's an asylum. bcf's are for the CRIMINALLY insane and asylums are for the schizophrenics and mpd's.

Would it be better if it's change to people escaping from an asylum who have been forced to go but don't need to be there? It wasn't uncommon for people to be sent to an asylum because someone didn't like them and had the power to do so.

((PokeGal, when you begin a Roleplay dealing with things like this, you HAVE to do research. You HAVE to know these things so you don't look like an imbecile. If you start a roleplay like this and make a HUGE mistake like that- and it wouldn't have been were this not an escape from ______ RP- then you're most likely going to look like an imbecile to someone. I'm trying to help you here. Don't get defensive or kill the messenger- especially when they're trying to help.))

@MarianFrae: the criminally insane have been kept in asylums but not always but were usually kept separate from the non-violent ones. Also, an asylum can be a generic term for an institution. It's defined as 'a place of protection or restraint for one or more classes of the disadvantaged, especially the mentally ill'

ok, these days, there is an absolute distinction. Two different buildings, even if owned by the same person and/or called by the same basic name. Kind of like how Buckner has a lot of different parts- which are never in the same building... and all have a subtitle. Way back when, they would be tortured or just killed. Generally the criminally insane(middle or lower class) were just killed. Asylum is the original term. Institution came about in the reformation. asylum's not a generic term for institution. It's the original term.
My point of posting here in the first place, was to acknowledge an incorrect/vague term so the canon could be better understood if corrected. I won't reply here again... won't even read. So don't reply to this.
