After having been requested to revive this bad boy, here it is Again, I'm not exactly certain where we left off so if someone would like to start somewhere along the general story, that would be awesome.

Just to recap, here is the info I posted in my original post:

====================================================

In the kingdom of Torvir, magic is punishable by death.

All those who hold the capacity to perform magic are to be executed without trial. Anyone who has information about those who practice magic is to report to the Zaddok, the so-called Guardians of the Righteous, or else they shall be arrested, put on trial, and if found guilty, they too, shall be executed. It is indeed a dark time to be a mage in such a country…

But the non-magical citizens of Torvir applaud the law. Free from the threat of magic and sorcery, they go about their daily lives and live quite happily without second thoughts. They have no wish to go beyond their country’s borders. Indeed, Torvir is a prosperous land, filled with bustling cities, quaint villages, tranquil lakes, breathtaking mountains, and expansive forests. The lands outside of Torvir are seen as barbaric, desolate, filthy, and dangerous.

Only those who possess magical abilities live in constant fear. Day to day, they live in secrecy, hiding their abilities from those who would persecute them. While most are content to hide or flee, there exists a secret rebellion force of mages that wishes for nothing more than to overthrow the government, seize control of the country, and punish those who punished them.

However, things are a little more complicated than that.

There also exists a secret band of mages within the Zaddok who work for the government – they track down other mages in the kingdom to arrest them and bring them to justice. Powerful and mysterious, they are a force to be reckoned with and are always dangerous.

Then, there are also sympathizers, both of the magical and non-magical variety. Some mages do not believe in the more extreme views some of the rebels hold. Some of the normal citizenry believe that mages are not evil, as is common amongst them. Both believe that there is a way for the two sides to live in peace.

So which side will you pick?

====================================================

If you’re interested in joining, it would probably be VERY important for you to know this information. It will help you know the condition and mindset of the country the RP takes place in, as well as the major players that are vital to the plot. It’s quite a bit to read but take your time! Part of roleplaying is understanding the situation your character is in.

History
Torvir has always been a prosperous land with many resources and a large population. However, it wasn’t always so against magic and the law against mages is, in fact, quite recent.

Tensions between mages and non-mages have always been present throughout history, but the two were able to live together relatively peacefully. However, about five years ago, an extremist mage assassinated King Astor and Queen Tierra, throwing the entire country into chaos and making Crown Prince Sorin an orphan.

The mage-assassin was immediately identified, arrested, and executed on the grounds of murder and treason. Nevertheless, there was an instant backlash against all mages and the Regent, Arashin Joszi, took control of the country, as was his right until Prince Sorin reached the age of sixteen. Arashin, who already held resentment against magic, took advantage of the citizens’ concerns about rogue mages and decreed that all magic was punishable by death. Since then, hundreds – and maybe even thousands – of mages have been executed without trials, forcing all the mages in the country into hiding or fleeing the country altogether.

Government
Torvir is led by an absolute monarchy led by a King and Queen. The throne is passed down to the King and Queen’s oldest legitimate child.

The hierarchy goes something like this:
King & Queen
Prince(s) & Princess(es)
Regent & Regent’s heirs
Dukes & duchesses
Counts & Countesses
Barons & Baronesses
The Zaddok
Regular officers and solders within the military
Citizens/Commoners
Mages (who are not considered citizens)

Currently there is no King or Queen, as both have died, leaving their only son behind. However, because the Crown Prince Sorin, at ten-years-old, is still too young to take on his royal duties, Torvir is ruled by the Regent in the prince’s stead until the Crown Prince reaches the age of sixteen.

Headed by the Regent, Arashin Joszi, the nobility also work to maintain peace and order within the country. They are wealthy and hold a lot of power and influence, but under Arashin’s rule, they follow him without question.

The Zaddok
The Zaddok, also known as the Guardians of the Righteous, are an elite military group that are specially assigned the task of arresting and executing magic users in Torvir.

The most powerful and elite of the Zaddok are, for the most part, mages themselves, a small circle of about five men and women. They are very powerful and are handsomely rewarded by Arashin himself. The fact that they are mages is a closely guarded secret and no one but the Zaddok and Arashin know. They are Arashin’s “secret weapon”. They like to call themselves “The Jinn”, although the name is not official and not well-known to conceal the fact that they are mages.

The rest of the Zaddok are hand-picked officers and soldiers from the regular military units. They are specially chosen for their strength, speed, agility, stealth, and intelligence. However, they lack any kind of magical ability whatsoever, but against a mage, they are still able to put up a very good fight. About twenty Zaddok soldiers are assigned to each of the five Jinn, thus the Zaddok as a whole number about 100.

Geography and Surrounding Areas
Torvir is a medium-sized country with a temperate climate. It’s characterized by breathtaking landscapes of mountains, lakes, rivers, and forests with cities and villages spread throughout. The capital city is known as Thuor, which is also the residence of the royal family and their regent.

To the east lies the mighty Aisel Ocean. The south-east lies the small, rural country known as Urdan and to the south-west and west lies a large and powerful country known as Marama, where some mages from Torvir have fled to as refugees. However, Marama has recently been struggling economically and is facing a shortage of basic necessities and resources, leading to widespread poverty amongst its people. To the north lies a seldom-travelled belt of mountains known as the Misty Mountains. However, a secret pass is known to some rangers and travellers that can lead a person relatively safely through the treacherous mountains to Hayote, the country to the north.

The borders of Torvir, however, are closely guarded, making it difficult for anyone to get in or out without special permission. Even the harbour along the shores of the ocean is closely watched by the royal navy and it is not uncommon for ships to be searched at random for any trace of magic.

((Yay. XD Would it be okay if we continued from where Amy is lying?))

"What do we do now?" Laverna inquired gently... Deep inside her mind, she was imagining the worst. That the Jinn and his subordinate had already disposed of the girl, and were coming for the rest of them next...

Ranna thought furiously. The best option would to be just to kill everyone now. Or if she couldn't manage to kill everyone, it would have at least helped to kill that annoying druid who was likely to be the ruin of all her carefully-laid plans, whether she knew she was doing it or not. Still, the terrible memory of being surrounded by the forest and their threatening voices, their branches shaking, their leaves rustling...Ranna knew the fate of whoever chose to kill the druid so outrightly, deep in their own territory.

But the girl, Amy, looked to be in terrible condition. At least half her aura was a bright red, a sure sign of having been touched by that Jinn. Ranna wished she had researched more about all the Jinn currently operating in the country, for she knew not how to reverse the spell by any healing technique known to her. Most likely the Jinn who cast the spell in the first place would be the only one who knew how to lift it.

"Perhaps if the Jinn is killed, the spell will release her," Ranna murmured quietly. "I cannot say for certain, however."

((Do I spy a double agent?))

"Well... Then we should track him down first, at least. Is anyone here able to trace magical signatures? I can get a rough estimate of the Jinn's location, but I won't be able to center in on his exact mental fingerprint... And he might be gone by the time we get there, I think we'd need a 'mana bloodhound' to track his movements."

Lav sighed as she strolled over to the nearest tree. It was an ancient oak, perhaps centuries old... The caster placed her hand on its time-worn bark, and channeled her thoughts into the calloused wood...

Go North, my druid... The one you seek lies still, with his accomplice. But he is not dead. Move with haste, for they seem ready to awaken.

Thank you, wise one...

--------------------------------------------------

Leoric moaned as he woke from his slumber, and desperately tried to shove the screeching pain from his head... The world was spinning around him, and all he could see was a rapidly rotating green splotch... Rubbing his eyes, his vision shot into focus... They were still in the forest.

"Wake up, fool!" He aimed a weak kick at the side of his accomplice and she too rose and brushed herself off...

"Stupid trees!" Before the wood could react, the boyish Jinn placed a hand in front of him, generating a blood-red psionic barrier that shoved off the branches and creatures that came at their direction.

"Quickly, run!" The Jinn urged himself and his minion forward through the undergrowth... The only thought on his mind was maintaining the shield while escaping the forest in one piece. The dagger thrower's survival was an 'Optional'.

"Sir...!" Caught outside the shield, she has little chance to follow Leoric before a root lashes around her leg, tripping her up. She goes into a roll, but is stopped cold as more plant life wraps her body on contact with the ground. Vines snake into her clothing, removing daggers and suspicious vials, dropping them on the ground underneath her as they lift her off the ground.

---

Lia's head flicks around as she notes a familiar feeling. "I just sensed the commander's energy wave pattern to the north. It's usually difficult for me, but I think he must have used some kind of spell recently. I guess that means he's awake." Ignoring her misgivings, she bends down and picks up the girl. "Don't think I trust this girl, but I'll at least trust in you for the moment." She says to Laverna. Her eyes flick over to Ranna warily. "Wouldn't you like to go on ahead, miss? You strike me as a talented scout."

---

Seeing that Tia is in no further danger, Eric grips his weapon grimly and sets off after Lia. She's confused, that's all. He's sure he can still set her on the proper path. Perhaps she's under some kind of spell! He feels he must do everything he can to save her from herself, and that wretched druid!

Ranna inwardly smirked as the druid's companion asked her to go first to scout ahead. Well, working as a Zaddok, Ranna couldn't exactly blame her. Zaddok were trained to be naturally aware and suspicious of all things going on, especially where magic was concerned.

"If you were thinking of escaping from your former commander, you will lose your chance to find the very person who did that to her," Ranna said, nodding towards Amy in Lia's arms. "Although the path is clearly not straight, Amy came from a northern direction, heading south. You don't even need to be able to see mana auras to be able to know that. In her state, I doubt Amy even thought about covering her physical trail very well."

Ranna turned and returned to her horse, untying the reins from the tree branch and mounting. "I will be heading north to find that Jinn. If he's lurking around somewhere, I want to get rid of him as soon as possible. Outrunning him may not be an option if he is faster than us, and I don't doubt he is quite powerful."

"Clumsy fool!" The Jinn's head turned at the sound of his subordinate's plea. He hesitated for a moment, like any decent human being would, before turning tail and leaving her behind to fend for herself. His mind is starting to crumble under the stress of maintaining the psionic shield, but bloodthirst and an insatiable appetite for revenge help to fuel the potent mental barrier...

--------------------------------------------------

Laverna nodded, but chose not to speak during the discussion. Tracking, and reading the personalities of deranged Jinns were not among her fortes.

"But... If she goes alone... Would she stand a chance? She..." Lav remained silent.

Lia shakes her head at Laverna. "You shouldn't worry. Even if she chooses to engage the Jinn alone, she should be all right until we arrive. You need him or his death to help this girl, right? Shall we?" Lia then sets off on the same path Ranna took, only slightly slowed by the weight of the girl.

---

"I have no desire to harm your druid." The monotone spoke the truth. She had little desire for much of anything. As she saw it, her only purpose in life was to follow the orders of her superiors. She was worthless if she could not be of use to them. "Release me. I must return to the commander's side."

---

Eric hesitates at the border of the forest. A confrontation with the druid is probably suicide in the heart of the forest, but Lia comes first. He'll just have to avoid calling the forest's attention to himself and hope it will allow him through without alerting her.

"Alright... Do you need help?" The druid asked in a genuinely-concerned manner, before she, ironically, tailed the Zaddok. As she walked, Lav grew highly uneasy, sensing subtle disturbances in the deceptively-innocent woodland air. The wood was strained. Too many sources of magic, too many foes to defend against, and too many stubbornly robust personalities to deal with.

--------------------------------------------------

'Your servility... It extends to the point of foolishness. Your commander abandoned you, unshackled you himself, yet you still feel bound to him by shackles of your own... If you so wish to doom yourself to serving then by all means.'

The vines and natural things that were restraining and probing the dagger-thrower set her down gently, like a mother who had just reprimanded a child, returning the little dagger-thrower her trinkets and toys.

--------------------------------------------------

The Jinn sees light filtering through the last of the ancient ones, their voluminous girths are finally beginning to give way to the hand of civilisation. The tried-and-tested mental shield finally crumbles into a few stray ruby wisps, before completely dissipating, and a familiar face is revealed before the remnants of the collapsed barrier.

"Eric? What are you doing here, where is your companion?" Heavy panting and smoky wheezing is injected flavourfully between the words, and Leoric is brought to his knees by his own fading stamina, his head pounding viciously and beads of sweat adorning his pale boyish skin, as though he had been struck by one of his own psionic assaults.

((Hope you don't mind that Leoric encounters Eric, Everace, I just thought it would be pretty interesting...))

Leoric stumbles forth from the woodlands, strength failing just before he reaches Eric. Under normal circumstances Eric would rush to the side of a fallen child, but in this case he keeps his distance and stares coldly at what can only be a magic-user to his eyes. "I see that you are alive, commander." He says, glancing up at the still trembling forest. There is no way to pass undetected now... not with it's attention called to this spot by the blasted hell-brat. Helping Lia is now an impossibility.

His hateful eyes turn to Leoric, wishing to kill the wretched caster for eliminating his chance, but he quickly quells and buries the feeling. "Do you need assistance?" He asks reluctantly, icy toned, seeing no other useful course of action.

---

Surprised at suddenly being released, the nameless one quickly reclaims her belongings and rises to make a dash for the forest edge. What stops her is the sound of a horses hooves, beating along the ground. Glancing back, she spots a warrior riding up the path. Zaddok protocol, assess all possible threats and eliminate dangers to your superiors. She hails the newcomer. "Do you ride to town, warrior? I wonder if you would be kind enough to share your horse?" Her voice suddenly becomes warm and coaxing, almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

---

"It shouldn't be neccesary." Lia responds. Truthfully she would have liked Laverna to carry the unknown and possibly dangerous girl, but she didn't want to show any lack of confidence.

I was dreaming, a nightmare was tormenting my inconsiousness. I was seeing so much... My parents. I was seeing them being tortured to death by those zaddoks. I was seeing them suffer...I saw them die... Again.

I was breathing fast, and I was crying... Almost struggling out of this...

((Crud, I nearly forgot about Insurrection...))

"Yes, we were... seperated." Leoric shifted uncomfortably. A miniscule part of him was wondering what had become of the subordinate he had so heartlessly abandoned, but he was largely concerned about replenishing his supply of thralls.

"I think our business here is done, Eric." Insisted the young Jinn, choosing not to reveal anything about the nature of his streak of failures in the woods. "I received word that the leader of the rebel scum resides in Ornanyth; it would probably do us well to head there as soon as possible."

"We might even be able to get a few new... allies along the way." Claimed the Jinn in deceptively innocent undertones, as though he were a child asking his mother for money to buy toys.

--------------------------------------------------

"Is she alright?" The druid glanced over at the petite girl, shuddering in sporadic fits of sobbing. The miserable sight only served to ignite an inner flame in Laverna- the Jinn had to be hunted down and dispatched without delay. Ironic that the pursuer had become the pursued, and vice versa...

Lia's face shatters into pity for the young girl as she sees her crying out. The time for holding back is passed, there's nothing she can do now but help. "Laverna, come here. We need to do something about her condition, if only temporarily." She sets the girl down, concern coloring her movements. "Working for the commander, Eric and I were forced to develop a number of mental defense techniques. I want to try to enter into her mind and impart that knowledge to her. Just tap into the access point that Leoric's mind control spell made, it shouldn't be difficult even if you have no experience with mentalism. Bascially the idea is to grip it like a rope and tie it to my mind... if you can manage that, I should be able to lend her some support."

---

"I see." Eric's face is like stone as he clamps down on his emotions. He turns and moves into town, planning to commandeer a carraige for the trip to Ornanyth. He cares not to see if Leoric will follow.

I was moving a little bit. Still, tears were running on my cheeks. I was sobbing, I couldn't endure that again, I couldn't see them die. Not annother time.

My mother was screaming to death as my father was inconscious. she was screaming his name. She was crying. She could barely move. She was weak.

Words were coming out of my mouth between sobs, in a low whisper. I was shaking with fear. "No... Please... D-- Don't leave me... Please... N-- Not again... Please..."

Ranna rode as swiftly as possible down the forest path, dodging the large branches and not minding the thin ones as they whipped and scratched at her. Such minor wounds could be dealt with later. What was important was achieving her goals.

Up ahead, however, was a peculiar sight - a lone woman. Ranna's instincts immediately made her wary, so she pulled on her horse's reins and stopped several feet away.

"My destination is my business alone," Ranna said in a stern tone. In the back of her mind, she was aware that she was quickly running out of time. "Unfortunately, I don't have quite the time to take anyone anywhere, but if you have any sense, you'd leave this forest as quickly as your feet can take you."
