Welcome to... ![]() Amaranthian Writers' Club Turn the page. Is your hobby more on writing? Have you ever wanted to be a writer yourself? Do you seek advice to improve your literary work? If you are a writer, then this one club is suitable for you, you and most of all, to you! Being a writer, to be honest is not a simple task. You should never force yourself to write something, otherwise, the outcome will be guaranteed a thumbs down. ~Rules~ [color=330099]1. Obviously you should be interested in writing in some way. You don't have to be spectacular at it, but having an interest is great. Also being willing to share your writing is helpful too, as many here will likely be interested in reading it once you talk about it. 2. Constructive criticism is great, outright flames are not. Please don't say anything about anyone's work that you wouldn't want said about your own work. If something isn't good, don't just say "it sucks", say what about it isn't good and suggest a way to improve if you can. It also helps to post what is good about an idea. I feel very strongly on this, because it will be more helpful to know why something isn't good and how to possibly improve upon it. As a willing writer, please be willing to accept criticism. It is meant to make you a better writer, not to hurt you. No one's work is perfect. 3. Obviously, follow forum rules. You know the repercussions of not following them. 4. While randomness is indeed a good way to brainstorm, it would be wonderful to remain mostly on topic, which should include our works or writing in general. Discussions on literature are great, random discussions on non-related topics are not. 5. Don't point out grammar or spelling errors! Instead, send the author a PM pointing those mistakes. 6. Don't put your story updates here. Those are done and posted in the Hungry Boar Tavern. And please, when you join, let me know what you want me to put for your currently ongoing works and if you have a link to your written works that are available to read, post that too, I will link your name to it in the members list. --Links (Courtesy of KTC) -- Weapons http://www.myarmoury.com/features.html http://www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewforum.php?f=1 ^people seem nice enough to help you out if you need weapon pics. A writers' club, eh? Not a bad idea, not a bad idea at all. I'm in.
I have far too many works-in-progress right now. But I do have some finished ones as well. I shall organize their locations and include the posts for you all, but it'll have to be later. Right now, I have to shower and get to work. ![]()

Question: do my works need to be posted here (as in the Hungry Boar Tavern) or can they be elsewhere? The bulk of my stuff is hosted on another forum.

Yes you may.
![]() Thesis writing can be also discussed here if you need help. (Though I can only help with some parts, and APA format only...well I can help you with MLA format as well.) Though don't rely here very much, and do not ask frequently. Ask when you really need it. ![]()

Lol ok. Actually, I only use APA and MLA for english class. my history teacher says that most other subjects use Turabian.
Is this true?

lol, I just heard Turabian just now. I never heard of it before. XD
Though the formal format, according to my Technical Writing teacher, is APA.

Do you mean referencing? If so, there is no "formal" format, since there are a lot of different referencing method, and ALL are correct. They are just accepted by different groups.

This sounds interesting. I'd love to give it a try. Here's a link to my story in the Tavern:

referring to mla/apa: you also have to check with your professor/teacher about how much you have to reference. Some teachers are especially anal about it to the point of failing you from class if even a single phrase seems to have been 'plagiarized'. Psychology courses, according to my friend, are a notorious example for this.
Interesting club though I'm confused on the actual purpose of the club. Is one suppose to just list their WIPs(works in progress) and expect feedback via PMs? This thread so far doesn't seem to have much discussion.

As of now, there will be no discussions at the moment as the club is fresh. Perhaps soon enough, I can be able to think of a topic suitable for the club.
