Help! I have downloaded AVII but the program does not load an executable, what do i need to do?

Yes, I downloaded the file from this website. It seems to install but there is no exe file to start the program so I can't add it to my Norton 360 allowable programs

If it installed correctly, there should be an icon on the desktop to start it. You can right-click that icon, choose 'Properties', then the 'Shortcut' tab, then the 'Find Target' button. That will open the Aveyond directory, with the .exe file highlighted.

If there is no desktop icon, perhaps you need to reinstall the game.

Also, are you certain that you downloaded the game, and not just one of the goodies? What's the name of the file you downloaded? It should be an .exe file that you download, then you run it from the saved location to create the desktop icon Tini mentioned.

yep, i downloaded the game. I downloaded it from yahoo.com and had no problem but i can't buy the full version for yahoo. it installs the icon on my computer and puts all the files in but there is no executable.

Can you uninstall the game completely (make sure both are uninstalled if the two downloads from different sites ended up in different locations), then download again from your chosen site and try reinstalling?

I'm wondering if the two got confused with each other.

Do you have some download manager that indicates whether the download was actually successful? Depending on when you tried it ... since AV3 has just been released, the servers have been very busy and we've had a lot of incomplete downloads. Things have settled down now though.

I have uninstalle and reinstalled it over and over again. it asks if i want to install and i say use, it goes through the installation process and at the end asks if i want to launch game, i say yes and nothing happens. this all started before av3 was available so it's not the traffic on the site.

i just downloaded av3 and it loaded just fine.

Can you find the game in C:\Program Files or wherever you installed it in?

Yep, it installs the folder with subfolders. I see the uninstaller exe but no game exe. is there somewhere else I can download it from?

Are you sure you are looking in the correct folder? Games from yahoo install in a different location than games downloaded here. When you tried to install the download from here, it should have asked you to completely uninstall any previous Aveyond IIs on your computer, even to the point of deleting the folders in which they were installed.

Try makinf sutre every trace of Ave II is deleted from your system (except the new installation file), and try installing it again.

I just reinstalled it a few days ago, and it worked fine.

I see and audio/data/graphics/images/walkthrough folder. there are 10 files but none are an exe.

everytime I have uninstalled it has removed all the files/folders. everytime i install it asks if i want to install the program aveyond 2 on my computer. this is a new computer and did not have the program installed proir to last week. i first downloaded it i think last weekend. i was having a problem proir to downloading from yahoo. i thought i could solve it that way.

Is it possible that your anti-virus deleted the executable file? Try uninstalling your game, delete all AV2 files and folders, then disable your anti-virus and reinstall the game.

i finally uninstalled norton and downloaded the file and it finally started. Thank you everyone for your help and advice!

No problem. However, may I suggest that you reinstall your anti-virus? It is useful, even if it occasionally gives false positives.

You might need to go into your antivirus and tell it Game.exe is an allowed file - otherwise as soon as you try to run it, it'll incorrectly flag it as having a virus and will remove it again.

False positives - gotta love 'em!
