When you're mapping towns, you just choose 'towns' right? When you play an rpg game, the town is usually, er, 'bigger' than the screen (when fullscreen), but the screen in the 'town' in rpg maker 2003 isn't big enough, so is there a way to make it bigger? Or are you supposed to 'connect' it with other maps?

You can create a bigger map size. Click with right mouse->New map->dimensions. Base il 20x15, and you can make it bigger.

Thanks!^^ What about when you're about to enter a new place, how do you 'link' it to other maps?
Also, how can I add doors?

Don't they just work via events, just like the more recent makers?

I don't have it installed, and it's been ages since I looked at it. But if you switch to the event layer and double-click, doesn't it give you the event tab where you can add all your commands?

Click with right mouse in the event mode (third layer, first is map for ground, second is for the other things and third is event) click on "place teleport event". Select the map and the tile you want to teleport, the way you want the chara face and press ok. To make the door, double click on the teleport event and select a door in the event graphic.

I want to make those 'castle doors' but I can't find the icon anywhere :/ Also, how can I add my own music in the game? Is there a software where you can compose and install it inside? And for the dialogues, how can I make them?

The door are characters:
http://www.tekepon.net/fsm/modules/re ... =map&sort=released&cid=10 There you can find the charset and the chipset, and some of the best chipset for 2003 and vx too. You can see even other chipset, not only castle ones. Remember to credit Mack to use them. I don't know how to compose music, but to install it you have put the music in the Music folder in the project. Or Sound folder if they are sounds. The dialogues are events, create an event an click on message. You type text and presso ok. Change the trigger condition to make the dialoque start when people talk with the characters or in automatic. To make ad automatic text stop, you have to add an event command Variable operation, create a variable like the self-switch of xp and vx to swap. You should read some base guides however, some basilar to understand the program.

Thanks a bunch! ^-^
You mean I need to create a gamedisk then put the music inside? Also, do you need a usb or cd to create a gamedisk? http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=27264.0 Btw, that ^ is what happens when I try to create a gamedisk. I tried to make it on my desktop. Do you mean I right-click on the object/person on event layer? I've clicked 'new event' but I don't see the word 'message' anywhere. I've also downloaded tilesets from the site you gave me, and when I try to press the red ones that I've circled, the yellow ones appear in the game when I run it. Or the files that 2003 read, dunno if mp3 are supported. The project folder should be in documents->rpgmaker2003 or his name. I don't know what error is it, I don't use 2003, I just have it on pc but never tryed to create a game (too complicated for me, I prefer XP XD). But try to see this post: http://www.charas-project.net/forum/i ... 27264.msg355067#msg355067 Try to save the images in 256 color format like suggested. Sorry I've edited my post before. I know how to add music
and yeah it supports mp3. ^^I tried saving the gamedisk on "(C: )" computer, and it worked. http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u ... vanaDeRossi/chara05_m.jpg There's the link for the photo on the previous post. Oh! Ugh I feel so stupid >.< Those 'dots' just didn't caught my attention >.< How do you make the ones in your party reply?

You click again on the event commands and then select another message. With face graphic you can select a face too. Or you type: CharaName: I'm a reply.
[OT]Are you italian? I've seen your name now XD[END OT]

OK I'll try that.
I have problems with the tile sets. I've downloaded those castle doors from your link, and when I try to select the ones I've circled with red, it comes out with the ones with yellow when I try to run the game. Is there any way to fix this? This is the one I'm talking about---> http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u ... vanaDeRossi/chara05_m.jpg And lol, I'm not italian, I've just decided to use that name when I've played an italian's name generator. XD

I think it's because is the central part that have to move, eventually. The fixed part is in the chipset.

What do you mean in the chipset? I've chosen 'facing down' and 'frame middle'. I'm using the castledoors by event editor btw because it won't appear in the left-side of rm2k3 where there are little icons you can choose.
Also, I've made a treasure chest from event editor and chose 'antidote' in it but the chest won't appear when I run the game. I've tried adding msg but still it's invisible. Also on your previous post, you said to choose 'variable operations' right? What should I click next to make the text stop/pause?

You can put the sides in the mapping and the center door with the event. Dunno, try to do a stamp of the event page with the settings. Quote: Also on your previous post, you said to choose 'variable operations' right? What should I click next to make the text stop/pause? In the other engines there are self switches, in this you have to create a variable like chest1 and put it on at the end of the event end then click on new event page and select switch chest1 is on, on the top left checkboxes (you have to select the switch. This only if an event has to be done one time, like intros or unique dialogues or treasure chests.

Yeah, I've imported the picture I've posted before in the 'charset'. I couldn't import it inside 'chipset' because it says "invalid image size".
Again, when I click on the red ones, it DOES appear on rm2k3 but it turns into the yellow ones when I run the game. I've only used 'event editor, event graphics' to add the doors.Huh? How can I do a 'stamp'? o.o Ok I'm confused. Can you tell me the steps one by one? (I've only begun mapping a few days ago so yeah...) You mean I click on 'event editor', the engine already helped me named it EV0001, so is that what you meant by 'chest1'? I've already selected "event graphic" and chose the treasure chest icon, movement type: stationary, animation type: non-continuous. On the "preconditions", I've already ticked both "switch", "0001". On event commands, I've wrote the message for 'you found an antidote'. The chest appears on rm2k3 but when I run the game, it's invisible. I'm not sure what's causing it. Also, I've tried putting a picture on the wall. I want to write a msg on the picture (like "this is a picture of blah blah blah..." ) so I used the event editor, event commands then msg. But when I tried to run the game, the msg won't appear.

You open the event, press the button, open paint o photoshop and ctrl+v the image. Save it and post there to show what you have done with the image. Quote: On the "preconditions", I've already ticked both "switch", "0001". from what I understood, you clicked on precondition in the first page. You have to select them in the other event page. To create a new event page you have to click on new event page. http://www.rmxp.tigerseye.uk.com/tutorial_event2.shtml there is a tutorial for XP but you can use it for 2003 too because events looks much the same. Huh? But the link you gave me, it was a GIF image and it can only be 'charset', not 'chipset', so I have to put the castle doors from the charset. There isn't a chipset with the castle door in rm2k so that's why I've downloaded your link.
....You mean take a "screenshot", not "stamp" ^^" OK I finally got it! On first page of event editor, I've added message "got antidote" and "change items: antidote add 1", event graphic is treasure chest closed, then I've added another event (page 2) which I've checked both switches, msg "empty!" and the event graphic is the chest opened. When I run the game it gave me the antidote, but after that the 'empty' message won't appear and the treasure chest is still closed.
