Something Remarkable.

You know, today, I was stuffing my face with my dinner at a restaurant when I started spying on a couple sitting a few tables away.

They weren't being obscene or indecent or rude or anything that would attract your attention, but somehow I couldn't stop looking at them.

They were really quiet and when the waiter came to take their other they smiled and moved their hands.

Then I realized something.... they never TALKED.

They were either deaf or dumb. And they were communicating in sign language!

Seeriously, I was AMAZED. Yes, i've heard of sign language (who hasn't) but I never actually paid attention to that and just now, I was spying on their 'conversation'.

I didn't understand one bit of course, but the girl was smiling and making animated and enthusiastic movements with her hands. And then, the guy put up his hand, as though object to what she 'said', and started doing his own enthusiastic sign movements. They both were so HAPPY...

Oh My Gosh.

I was actually trying to understand what they were 'saying'.

The girl joined her index finger with her thumb, placed it at her forehead and tapped her temple. What does that mean? Wow. I can never learn sign language. =P

I am truly amazed and impressed. Nothing much. This is just a small thing I noticed that made me more grateful that I have the sense of hearing and speech.

While it may hold the correct meaning, many Deaf people would be offended. And I love sign language. It is actually fairly easy to learn. If you had more opportunity to just sit and watch them, you would start to understand without knowing how to sign
