Interview with Lydia Rupert

What is your name?
You may call me Lady Lydia of Thais.

You are a noble woman from Thais? Then you know Edward Pendragon?
Of course! He is the heir to the throne and my future husband.

You two are engaged? Edward didn't mention anything about a fiancé in his interview...
Oh, he doesn't know it yet, but he is going to be mine. The little wretch will not have him!

Who is the "little wretch"?
Ugh, do I have to say her name? The little black-haired runt.

Oh, you mean Mel? I didn't know that she and Edward were an item.
They aren't an item, but I know what she's up to. Prince Edward is unaware, but I am sure that the commoner wants to marry him so that she can become queen.

Ah, I see, this is about becoming queen?
Of course! Edward is cute, but I find him rather boring. He is, however, going to be king. Whomever marries him will rule Thais at his side.

So, beside your obsession to become queen of Thais, would you like to tell us about your profession? I've heard you are a mage.
I am a mage-in-training at the School of War and Magic.

What is your magical specialty?
I'm very good at destroying things... the best in my class, actually. I'm being modest. I am the best at everything I do.

She seems a bit like one of the girls in animes or mangas where she's the one who has great grades and stuff in school and she's so popular, but has her eye on one boy, but that guy likes the main heroine of the series. Basically I'm saying she's sort of like a wannabe rival to the heroine to me, but with good grades. Although, I can picture the humor already in the game with Lydia in it. Sort of.

But, someone could of married one of Emma and Rye's decedants with magical powers. Plus, Emma and Rye might be MEANT for you to marry them in the game, but that dosen't mean you nessassairly do. Kind of like how you can chose Accept Offer or Die Serepent Spawn!for Tei'jal and Galahad even through you're spoused to marry them, as you find out in later games.

You know lars was obnoxius too at the beginning but I developed a liking for him in the course of Aveyond. Therefore I shall not judge a book until I read it. Even Ean/Iya/Rhen earned MP points when they levelled up, even before they found their destinies. Plus hereditary traits are sometimes quite strong, like Rhen the descendant from Devin and Alicia, both knights, can wield sword magic instead of sorcery like Lars. It doesn't mean that it can't happen, it just lessens the chance greatly IMO.

It's Edward himself that falls for Mel and works very hard to get her to like him. So I'm sure Mel could care less about the title. And the reason Mel acts suspicious in her interview is that she's a thief and that isn't something you want random people to know about.

I think it is interesting that Mel doesn't want Edward. She's a thief living on the streets, he is a wealthy prince. I would think she would take advantage of that, considering she does not seem very high on morals. But I guess she is just different from what I expected.

But here are a few notes: 1) Devin's sister is named Lidia. 2) Amanda has said that Lydia Rupert is in no way related to Lidia Perry. 3) I doubt, snobbish though Lidia was, she would even dare aspire to the heights Lydia does, since her brother only married the Crown Princess of Thais after Lidia's own marriage in sleepy Elden (if you return to Elden in Ahriman's Prophecy after the training at the Collegium, she will say that she's now married).
