The Fall of Shadow Weaver |
| Posted by BeMused on 08-Sep-2012 (295 reads) |
No. I don't think I am quite dead yet.
I know my body is somewhere out there. Somewhere I could not reach. Hidden. Shielded. Preserved... Ah, I don't even want to think about it. It is this strange tugging feeling at my heart on occasion which gives me a sense of hope that I am still alive. Sometimes I feel that it's leading me towards my body; yet I have been chasing after it for so long that I have lost count of the seasons that's passed.
And, sometimes, I dream of unpleasant things. Do ghosts dream? Well, I have never heard of a ghost that dreams. What I do know is that, from time to time, I need a little rest and, during that interval of inactivity my mind would wonder off to that far off time and place when I still had control over my physical self...
*****
It was late evening when she regained consciousness... and remembered the events which took place that day. It was an assault. Definitely. And it was a miracle that she survived it. Unforeseen as it seemed. And what if someone from the Family were to know about it: her, a Shadow Weaver, caught unaware and on the brink of death!
Dazed and puzzled from what had just occurred, she laid prone amid the sad remnants of her apprentices... along with the rest of the villagers to whom she had not the chance to say more than just a neutral greeting. Their vacant eyes stared at nothing, not even a blink as flies began to settle in. She tried calling for names belonging to faces she knew, hoping for a respond, a stir, if not a reply. Nothing audible produced from scratchy throat but halting rasps.
Night had fallen, she noted. Cold, silvery rays from the rising moon provided enough light for the only survivor to make out her surroundings. Sucking in a shaky breath, mindful of her own injury, she struggled to a sitting position, and was immediately greeted with the sickening sight of crumbled farm houses, darkened from the fire. Thick, dark smoke swirled about the place, polluting the once cool woodland air; very slowly did it being dissipated by the soft night breeze. Apart from her noisy, shallow breaths, the place which she once potentially thought of calling as her new home was frightfully quiet... even for a world weary adventurer like her.
A tinge of anger set in as she resisted the tempting sensation to give in to unconsciousness, however blissful it might be. Yet, overwhelmed with the apprehension of the loss of everything she knew, it did not take long for the rage to disintegrate to grief. Helpless, she wished that she had just died like the others... or prayed that to whichever goddesses that it was a really bad dream.

It is indeed a very unpleasant dream. Is that part of the events which occurred prior to the "separation"? I don't know for sure. |

Mangled |
| Posted by BeMused on 01-Jul-2012 (294 reads) |
I came across a couple of traveling farmers at the Northern border of Thais. It was a pitiable sight by the time they were within my field of vision. Their travelling cart overturned. Their carthorses set off on their own. Their perishable... perished.
From the look of things, they were attacked by a wild boar. Not a rare incidence, this, since smaller towns were erected further from the core kingdom of Thais. It was only natural people were getting more encounters with the untamed.
One of the farmers was down. His face mangled; one half of his chest wall caving in from too many broken ribs. His left forearm an angry bruised, resting in an awkward angle. In all appearance a broken doll, too painful to still be alive... but miraculously still breathing. Each gasp a struggle.
His younger companion, obviously a better runner, stood by his side. Blood was drained off his face... numbed by shock and lost for speech and about to faint any time soon.
I began to wonder. How was it different from one skinning a soft furred rabbit? From the gruesome act of hunting and slaughtering games?
The boy saw me. I thought that he would call for help. But then his eyes rolled up in his sockets and he fell backwards. Fainted? Strange. I looked down at myself and saw the ground through my legs... and remembered that I was a ghost.
Feeling generous, I hovered closer. I could have left the couple alone since the boy could find help from nearest town which was just a short distance from where he was... One would wonder how long the older farmer would struggle to keep himself alive.
I chanted a phrase over the dying person. The enchantment was meant for reviving a corpse; but I was certain that it should work well on him... since he's about to be a corpse.
Within seconds the damage was reversed. Physically, at least. I smiled at the result. The farmer would need new clothes, though.
Then, there was a light tug at my feet. I looked down again to find a thread tying at my left ankle. It stretched forward, a faint shimmering line, to the unknown distance. Leaving the couple behind, I continue on towards the direction of the thread to... ah, what was it again? |

The Wandering Soul |
| Posted by Elma on 27-Jul-2011 (703 reads) |
Looking thru the dark nite I see a faint glimpse of something bright.
I feel a tiny prick of fear go down my spine at the thought of the unknown,
Yet I also feel the thrill of hope beating in my chest.
I have been lost and alone for so long, the only friend has been my own voice and the sounds of the creatures of the nite.
Should I keep going forward??? Should I turn and return to my existence of solitude? Should I??? Should I????
Wait... that light ahead.. it moved!!!! I can see it moving closer and closer to where I am hidden in the shadows.
Dare I breathe? Dare I move?? Dare I take a chance and see what that light is???
I hear a faint SNAP of branches, the CRACK of twigs being stepped on... I am suddenly very afraid.. for now I am no longer alone!!
Hello!!!!! Is anyone out here??? Who are you?? Can you tell me if you are ok or need help???
That light, it now has a voice. Do I answer? Do I stay hidden? Do I take a chance?
Stepping out into the open field that lies in front of me, I take a deep breath and .....
A hand grabs mine and hold tight!!! I can't run, I have been captured!!!! My heart races, and then I find myself wrapped in the warmest of arms.
You have returned.. You have come back home.. Welcome.. Welcome.. We have searched and searched for you but to no avail, but we knew you would be back. This is your home, your friends and family are waiting.
Following this person, having faith that this light was not an accident, that it was lit to guide me .. I step into what can only be called SANCTUARY.
The voices.. who knew the sounds of so many people shouting and laughing and crying could be better than any music.
The feeling of belonging and of coming home.. who knew that this feeling could not only fill your heart but soothe your soul.
The peace, the calm, the noise, the insanity.. all of which balance each other out... the reality of being home.
The joy is beyond belief, beyond words, beyond description... all that can be said and even that is understated is...
HOME... I have finally made it back.. back to myself, my family, my sanity, my sanctum.. my life.
Home.. I have finally arrived to paradise.
curtains blow in the windows of my haunted cottage.. airing out the dust and feeling of abandonment... letting in the new, the free, the promise of an even better tomorrow |

Ahriman dropped by Castle Darke Magyk (first blog entry) |
| Posted by MagykMagus on 13-Jun-2011 (1095 reads) |
Ashen_Eclipse brought Ahriman to my cottage earlier. He congratulated me on joining the W&W, but seems to think we aren't as evil as he is.
I hit him wih a Pig-Latin Curse, but I'm probably not powerful enough to affect him properly. I might've managed a one-hour curse, though.
Also, I created a new recipe! Dark Side Sugar Cookies! They're delicious, especially with Ting-Toyeg aceng. *removes curse* Sorry, I meant Tongue-Tying Icing. |

Merry warm little home sweet swamp |

Dearest not diary
Avey-chan is reporting in from a little cabin up here in the woods on this mountain, forgotten by anyone and everyone. Except for the angel of a person who built this warm and cozy little cabin covered in cute little spider webs… Why am I here? Well here is the story. I was standing in the tavern when I over heard *cough* eavesdropped *cough* some druids talking about a rumor. If you went to this mountain, you might see a snow bat. And, for my report to the news, I decided to check it out. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid idea.
