Vastar is one of the best RPG games I've played. It has unique story and characters. Through the game you play with each of the siblings separately and as a group. It's quite fun They all have a different story which connects into one epic adventure.

 Re: Vastar
I have been enjoying this game. I wish that there were more coins to be had. It is difficult to accumulate enough to upgrade weapons and armour.I have not been able to open any of the colored chests. I found the copper wire for Danton but whenever I try to open a chest, he complains about his tools not being good enough. Can you help me with this?
Thanks

 Re: Vastar
I'd rank this game a little below the Aveyond and Arvale games because it gets a bit repetitive. Still plenty of surprises (return trips to caves are especially interesting!) Cannot beat the graphics or soundtrack, both are superior, among the best I've ever seen. Overall, KUDOS! Highly recommended, great value for the price.

 Re: Vastar
I should temper my remarks about this game a bit. As I have played into it, it has become incredibly boring and repetitive. I am finding it nearly impossible to level my characters; I've gone through one area over 50 times, and still not gotten enough gold to upgrade my equipment or enough points to level reasonably. I've played for eight hours today, raised my characters three levels, and I am hemorrhaging money.

The choice of scenarios is very limited, it often costs more to lodge at an inn than the gold you get off of killing 20 or 30 creatures, and the story can't advance while you are fighting to level. My characters are currently Level 48 (yes, i've hung on that long), and I am still getting killed by creatures I was fighting at Level 30 or less.

The characters have to walk a long time to get from point to point or battle to battle, and I mean a LONG time. I tend to be a plot driven gamer, and all this pointless walking about is starting to get to me. Not sure I will finish this game.

 Re: Vastar
phineus, you need to have Danton in the lesd and talk to the thief who will give you the tools to open the chests. on the docks in Ebonshire, to the east of the boatmaster's hut, is the second guy who will give you the tools to open the yellow and blue chests. i still can't get the thief inside the boat house to give me the tools to open the red chests, and i'm now level 80

 Re: Vastar
i've already done so, panda, with little result. this is what i call a plot hitch...the characters have to do something that is not signalled by either their character or the game. as i read Danton's character, he would rather fight creatures and level rather than admit he's done something wrong and crawl back to Winter Village.

i've pushed these characters up to over level 80, and I am still trying to get the red chest thieve's tool. The woman at Rhun was my best bet, but so far she is giving me nothing but cliched advice. I even went through the entire map all over again in case i had missed a chest...i thought for a while i needed to open every blue chest before i could get the red chest key. Who does Danton have to talk to in Winter Village? I've already talked to his mother, father, and the Priestess of the local temple.

 Re: Vastar
Wow, lvl 80! o_O I'm just around 40 and I'm about to face the final boss!

Anyway, you need to talk to the old lady in Ebonshire and then check the floor of the bedroom. Then speak to the rogue in Winter Village to complete the Book of 4 Elements quest. Finally, show the coin you get as a reward to the rogue in the Ebonshire docks in the guildmaster's office.

Hope that helps

The rogue standing at the cliff in Winter Village is the one you talk to (where you first saw him before during that cutscene when Danton ran into the cart to hide)

 Re: Vastar
Thank you! The funny thing is, I have really been enjoying this game. (Obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have leveled the characters as high as I have.) I got wiped out by Ravice's avatar when I wws level 40, but then I didn't have the good spells. The avatar also took me out at levels 50, 60, 70, and 80, lol. I do wish Julian could cast Vitalize....he is stuffed with AP and I can't do all that much with it. Time to go open some chests!

 Re: Vastar
can you really defeat Ravice's Avatar at level 40?
I'm having a hard time at twice that level.

 Re: Vastar
I'm glad you're enjoying it, despite the frustrations you've had Again, I appreciate your honest C&C on the game, as it's been extremely helpful.

And yes, it's very possible to defeat him at 40 if you have all of the strongest abilities and spells, and upgraded your equipment a bit.

The new patch I uploaded to the site tweaks some of the enemy drop rates, so I've made things a little easier to get more money and items fast.

A hint to defeating the Avatar is making sure your party is buffed with defensive and magical defensive spells (as well as offensive) during the first three free rounds of combat you have.

I can't download the demo. It's saying the exe isn't found on the server. But I was able to download the demo from Exodus Studios' site.

Thanks for letting me know about that. I updated the link on the Plimus site, so it should be working now when you click the link on Amaranthia.

 Re: Vastar
I was enjoying this game; everything ran smoothly whilst the characters were on their own adventures, then suddenly as they became a party the game became sluggish. With all due respect the walking speed is driving me potty & I don't have the patience to pursue the game if it continues as such. Does anyone know of a fix, update or patch or anything?

Fun, awesome, and loved by many people. Great job on the different characters - I loved each one's different story.
