I was lucky enough to get to beta-test, so I've already played through once. The game is awesome, I loved the mapping (like always) and it had some of the most memorable places (Aveyond 1) with some of the most memorable characters (Aveyond 3). Definitely my favorite game.

You can play in fullscreen by pressing "Alt" + "Enter". This also works with any other game made with Rpg maker.

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
Okay, I'll admit it: I went 'Yes!' when I read that this was the final installment.

I didn't like the Orbs of Magic series all that much. The games themselves were VERY good, and I really enjoyed playing through them. It's just that I didn't really like the characters all that much, except for Stella. That doesn't mean I didn't play them, though!

I'll download the free trial whenever I get the time.

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
JUst in case but some innocent spoilers might appear in this note.

While I have little time to interact on the forum- and strill have a story in progress here that is not hiatus but will be posted in its entirety one dayv -I could not stay away from the final installment of Aveyind 3. Suffice it to say I enjoy the banter and fight for control between Galahad and hehehe his ex-Vapiress much more than in the fiurst installment, i?t's great to have timless characters like tem who need a lot of time to develop properly and groew together and in mutual affection- I hope. The final part, oh it was really good. And a promising after the end scene. And an interesting non-Edward ending for Mel Haha, history likes to tease, hmm? The music is really beautiful, too.

I enjoed it and finished it in just over 10 hours. I really would like to have it all packed into one game but it was a very nice series all in all.

Although what I did not like was:
+constant lack of money and it was difficult to find enough to have some extra laying around just in case some extra purchase popped up. Any such quest-related purchases just left me with barely enough money to equipo my party and I struggled a bit too much at times. I'm replaying it to see if there was sonmething I could have done differently to avoid this struggling, particularly during battles due to lack of bought equipment and I guess maybe I missed a few chests.

I guess that's the only major criticism I can find. The story was well written as always- and that is of major importance to me when considering a game. Rpg maker games are more like interactive stories. That's why it;s importat for them to be written gramtically and in an interesting way. Started playing Arevan, .but there is just something about that writing that puts me off. Witch and Warrior in turn demonstrates good writing skills much like Amaranth games.

So thank you, I enjoyed my 10 final hours of advnturing with Mel, mysterious spirits and demons and Edward, Stella and of course Galahad and Tei'jal.

Music 10: great. not to distracting. perfect for the mood of the game in all areas.

Gameplay 9:Like the choice of either mouse or keyboard. One thing i not a fan of is not knowing how much HP the monsters have left.

everything else is great. worth trying out and buying.

I was excited to see the game came out, but when I started playing it, my previous save files showed up, but none of the data worked. None of my weapons, gold, etc. transferred. Is this fixable or was this intentional?

yeah, i have the full version too. I guess Mel went psycho in her denial of not being able to use magic and threw all her stuff away. and i guess her level dropped after living a peaceful life for a year. oh, well. *sighs*

Yes it was intentional.

Mel was in isolation for a full year. So she really didn't need the stuff from the last game. And since she wasn't fighting, her level went down.

I'm in love with Aveyond. This whole series has been awesome! It's sad that it's over but after all the suspense and waiting for it to come out it was totally worth it especially the ending which i thought was precious I would definitely recommend purchasing this game.

Aveyond crew keep up the good work. This was a great Christmas gift. Hopefully the next series will be even more exciting. Get to work on it! We'll be waiting anxiously. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
The dungeons felt very intuitive to navigate, i.e. a got the hang of them very quickly. I think a lot of that had to do with them being very circular, as opposed to branchy.

This might be a negative for some, but since I personally hate getting lost in dungeons it was a plus in my eyes.

There were basically no extraneous bits. I say that a bit sadly. I like having optional side quests, little extra things, etc. Here, everything was either related to the main plot, or necessary (to an extent- since you only needed at most three out of the five gifts) for getting a marriage ending... Other than that, there didn't seem to be any other side plots.

On the other hand, it was nice seeing how things tied in together.

The sword charging thing was clever. I really got a thrill every time I stumbled on one of the stations. On the other hand, this whole "choosing" thing-- i.e. choose your spells-- is disastrous for someone like me. I agonize over choices (when the choice is fairly obvious things improve but still).

The riddles/puzzles- i.e. the mirrors, the "test of purity" were a bit ridiculous, primarily because of in-game hype-- i.e., obviously they couldn't be made to hard, for the player's sake... But seriously, the huge horrible test of Mt Orion is a bunch of really, really easy riddles? with the answer given at the beginning? O_O As for the mirrors... okay, that was easy but at least it made up for it by being funny. (I wish I had taken one of the fake ones just to see what happened D= oh well)

I got so sick of the line "Hmmm... I wonder..." I was ready to slam Stella into a wall or something.

Also this game was LONG. I felt like I got my money's worth in gameplay at least (plot..... alright, the developers were tired. ....this wasn't their best. some character interactions were so off I am frankly removing them from my mental canon. lalala.)

Downloaded it when it came out; I'm glad I actually was able to get it with all the different server users! Bought it right after the free trial was over! It was okay (not the best); sort of short with not enough side quests, in my opinion. I was glad when I saw all the different Arishta Isles mapping, because I was beginning to miss the Aveyond 1 villages! Beautiful work, people! ^^

You're at the wrong entrance. Go to the west to find the entrance that brings you to Dire Woods.

In the future please post game questions in the forums, not the review section.

Both links work fine for me. You can try clearing your cache. Then try to download the game again.

Make sure to try both links too.

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
I love the Aveyond games, they are really imaginative and beautiful. I have the music soundtracks too. But this game focused on 'demons' too much for my taste, and lost some of its appeal.
And to tell you the truth, for as long as it takes for these to come out, i'd almost rather wait an entire year for the whole thing, not split up. It seems like about that long for a shorter game anyways..
Just my opinion.

Loving the game so far!

Is anyone else having a slight game freeze problem starting with the thieves cave? It doesn't stay frozen for me but does freeze for moments at a time when entering a new room or someone speaks.

Wow! Amazing new layouts. They were so much easier to navigate! (I so missed the Arishta Isles from Aveyond 1) Anyway, I finished my first playthrough, and it was an immense joy, as usual. I feel bad, bacuase I sped through it a bit. This game deserves to be savored.

The game is AWESOME as always! The mapping is sooo good, but somehow it looks a bit exaggerate with many trees. I was amazed with Dire Woods, though. But some towns seem disappeared, and unfortunately the arishta isles become so small.
Great!

The mapping like Veldarah, Thornkeep, etc.
Always reminds me of the original game, Aveyond:Rhen's quest, in which I played 7 years ago as my first rpg game.

They usually make them available via Shockwave after a month. However, in two days, we'll be at two months. Hence my confusion. ~shrug~ My mother will survive without it for a while longer.

i do hope that this Darkthrop prophecy isn't the last book of aveyond. i love aveyond especially the magic orbs series, i think it's much better than any rpg games i hd playd. Does amaranth going to plan for another aveyond series? i do hope so..

arishta isle becomes a little smaller, and theres places where i cant find it in this BOOK, like highland, lowland, and geldarah the twin sister land of veldarah. well, i guess bcause it hv been 300 yrs since rhen's time..i still remembr the book from clearwater sumwer in that place, about rhen in TDP..

Yes, The Darkthrop Prophecy is the last book of this series.

It probably won't be the last Aveyond game though, so don't feel too bad.

Uhhh... Hi! I'm kind-of new here, but in the game I've gotten up to Edwards wedding but I never collected the attraction points for Stella. All I have is the comb and i gave her it then tried giving her the green ring, but she didnt take it... Do I have to replay the game 'cause when I tried to leave the city it wouldnt let me, so i'm a bit confused...

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
Okay this my sound EXTREAMLY stupid, but Nox and Uma are dark and light, Nox wants Mel to complete the prophecy, but Uma warns Mel against it. Maybe their the bad and good 'spirits' in Mel? And whats with three?
Three girls; Mel, Nox, Uma
Three letters in their names; M-E-L, N-O-X, U-M-A
Three girls Edward can to marry; Lydia, Stella, Mel(Excluding Blef, because he dosnt want to marry her, Sorry Blef!)

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
I am a boy from greece and i started playing aveyond 4 years ago.I have played all the aveyond games and i am glad because i see tha amaranth games and enterbrain have made lots of improvements to the graphics and the gameplay of aveyond over the years. In the next year i will go to the senior high school but i dont care playing aveyond instead i am proud about it.Point that.If amaranth games creates an online multiplayer aveyond buyable or free to play it would be the best aveyond and not only aveyond but one of the best games ever.

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
I love these games. They are very exiting.I found all the goodies except the one hidden in Shadow woods. But after all i finally finished the game. The level up goody cave came very useful for defeating the Snow Queen and Hepetitus ;I defeated the snow queen using radiance song twice and Hepetitus using siren song 7 times, then i chose to go with Iya back home but I forgot to marry off Iya and Ean But I am still happy I finished the game.

PS:if you know the reason why I didn't take the sphere goody please tell me,Thank you.

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
av3 has really disappointed me, i mean the story is great and all but the games keep dragging it along.
i prefer rhens quest, it had more gameplay than the rest of them and the tilesets made it feel slightly real. the tilesets used in av3, a mix of rpg addons and VX looks too cartoony for my taste. i enjoyed most of the story with Mel but Rhen's quest tops my list.

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
I have been having problems with this game, I have played it before, so not so urgent! but I am desperate to get it sorted with next one coming out soon!!
This is what it says when it starts up an it stops working : it does it to all the aveyond games, laxius/deadly sin/whisper of a rose etc... Doesn't matter where I bought them from, suddenly they all stopped working?? I have posted this question several places so far nobody has been able to help me, but I saw a similar problem on technical - so hopefully someone can??

Script 'Main' line 48:Errno::EEXIST

File exists - C:\occurred\ ~1\APPLIC~1\

Thanks
Jo

Can anyone help. Have played D. Prophecy more than once over a year ago and now the game will not function properly. Windows 7 - wanted to let a grandson play but the music and movement is so halting that it is unplayable. Tried reinstall/download reinstall - no help.

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
I think it would be really, really cool (because I have obsessed nonstop over the Aveyond series) if there was a game based on Uma and Nox. Like if Uma or Nox was taken captive or something by someone and the other was the main character and had to save them. That's just me, but I think that would be REALLY cool, because I liked their characters and the contrast between their personalities.(:

Just curious, when did this game come out? Not the specific date, just the year.

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
This is my 2nd favorite one in the Lost Orb series, this one was also short, I finished it in a whole day and I was so sad cuz it was so good Mapping was beautiful, the new places and characters with Uma and Nox made it really interesting. I was really hooked on to it. I would also give this game more than 5 stars, and I'm so anxious for Aveyond 4 to come out, I can't wait for the new surprises awaiting us

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
If you're having trouble, try posting in the forums. There's a section for all of Amaranth's games. I believe that you would create a topic under "technical questions", or maybe under the section created specially for The Darkthrop Prophecy. I have no advice myself, but I'm sure if you posted someone would get back to you soon.

This game has been out for about three years now...

I don't understand why it's still not on amazon...? That's the only place I can buy my games since it's cheap there...

And I'm unable to replay the games fully without this one, but I can't do so since I can't buy this on amazon...

It seems to have come out everywhere else, like BFG, but why not amazon?

 Re: Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy
This game is a great ender for a very wonderful series.

I always loved Arishta Isles, I don't know why. Maybe because I'm still in love with Aveyond 1 and the effects aren't wearing off.

I really felt nostalgic while playing this game. Everything was neatly done: the mapping, the story, even the music was helping to bring back old memories.

The changes in the towns (Sedona, Clearwater, and THORNKEEP!) were shocking... especially Thornkeep. Poor town... I really loved Thornkeep during Aveyond 1 but I don't know what happened after how many years...

Finishing the game was worth it. I recommend you to play Aveyond 1 before you play this game

Cheers Amaranthia! You just created a magnum opus
