I have been waiting for this game. So I will definitely give it a try. I am just wondering is this game going to be divided into 4 parts or is this it? Also, I thought you could use the save file from the previous game, how can I do that?

You're not supposed to import your save files.

Ok...so far, I'm afraid I'm not as impressed with this one as I was with the first. I've spotted several bugs.
-At your family mansion you can walk on top of the trees near the house. -At the imperial castle, if you go to the door to the junk before it's time, there's no door, just an empty doorway that allows you to walk onto a section of wall and not pass through. -At the town that's ablaze after you beat the boss there's one fire still burning on the roof of the big house in the background after the fires have all gone out. I just ran into a bug that cost me my game as well. When talking about boarding the junk, the conversation suddenly stopped and wouldn't continue. I was boxed in by my party members and couldn't move, none of the buttons would work. I had to restart from my last save and lost a good bit of play time. Other than these issues, It's a good game thus far. The dialogue is (mostly) as good as the last one and it always makes me smile. The game itself isn't too difficult though it does make me wonder why, as was previously said, you were able to save your data at the end of the last game but can't take advantage of it for this one. A couple of other minor issues I forgot to mention and I figured out what caused the one bug I dealt with. -In the first village when you're looking for your contact, you continue to ask people if they've seen your contact after you've found her. Also, there's no order to asking though when you talk to some of the people it sounds like there should have been. I.e. the guy by the water, right by your ship. You can go talk to him right away and Jun says that he already checked the inn and the armory even if you haven't already. -In Nobunaga's house, when you wake up you can actually leave the room just as the dialogue is starting to come up and miss the event with the 3 ninjas that attack you in that room. Then if you go back in, then they attack. As for the issue I had earlier, everyone note that when you go talk to Lady Asuka in the storage area/prison, make sure you stand IN FRONT OF her, not BESIDE her. After she's finished talking, she steps to the left of the screen and if you're standing there, you're trapped as she can't move out of the way. Merged posts. ~Mopiece |

So...here are my thoughts, just finished this.
Honestly...I was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the mapping, tilesets, plot and dialogue were quite good despite a few spelling and grammar errors, but there were a few issues. 1. Bugs. They really were everywhere. Minor things mostly, little things that could just confuse or surprise you. Maybe a little more thorough playtesting. 2. Monsters. With a few notable exceptions, just about all the enemies were reused exactly from the previous game. 3. No sidequests other than the mansion, at least that I found. Now, the mansion was a GREAT idea, it really was...but I felt like more could have been done with it. A number of the rooms on the higher floors seemed to have no real purpose to them unless I missed some stuff, which is certainly possible. If I'm wrong, apologies. 4. Final boss fight. I'm sorry...but this drove me nuts. He wasn't hard, it's just that he had 100,000 hit points and did very little damage so it took FOREVER to wear him down. Like 30+ minutes, which really is too long for a single rpg-maker combat. 5. Length. It was just as long as the first one and thus I finished it the day after I bought it (being laid up with a healing broken arm sucks, btw). Overall-This game had some WONDERFUL points to it, including a story I liked (though it was perhaps a little silly at times, but that made me laugh nonetheless), fun characters, (mostly) great dialogue, and excellent art. That said, this game feels a bit rushed, like you were trying to get the sequel out as quickly as possible before people lost interest. I can totally understand that, but in this case, it feels like it came at the cost of some of the originality that made the first game so interesting. My advice, which of course you may feel free to ignore, it's your artistic vision after all, is as follows: -Next time you plan two games of this length, put them together instead as one game. One game of 12 hours approx. I would happily pay $11 or even $15 for as a compromise. After tax though, I paid $26 on these two games that I beat in about 2.5-3 days between the two of them. That's maybe a bit short. -Add some new monsters to the 'latter part' of the combined game rather than re-using old ones. I know Japanese myth and legend only has so much, though there are other Oriental countries that you could always borrow from as well, and when all else fails...make something up. -Playtest everything. I know, it's dull...no matter what some kids will tell you about their dream job, playtesting video games gets boring real fast. You have to go everywhere, try everything from every angle, make sure that it all works as it should and do so before it's released. Some people won't mind small bugs, but others find them irritating or unprofessional. -A large amount of hit points doesn't necessarily make a better boss fight. Rather, give the boss challenging attacks that keep the players on their toes rather than trying to wear them down. That's all I can really think of, but I'll close by saying this. I don't regret buying these games. They were fun. I do, however, think that there were a few points where the people playing this game REALLY see what your people are capable of as game designers and others that were somewhat lacklustre. No shame in that, just means there's room for improvement. I'll look forward to your next game. |
