This game is absolutely phenomenal!

WoaR was pretty amazing too, but SLD has just as great of a story, that tugs at the the heart's strings and makes you think a lot about the nature of dreaming. Art and animation is breathtaking during many scenes of game play, some enchanting, some plain eerie.

There's also a lot of niffy new features in this game that weren't found in WoaR too, that I really enjoyed. You really feel challenged and feel like you have to make good use of everything your party has collected to get to other parts of the game. Really a great game to play over and over again because of all it has to offer. Really marvelous!

This is a beautiful game; I've already tried it. But then whisper of a Rose did show what these people can do; the demo is simply fabulous; looks extremly well-written. I think Sweet lily Dreams along with Whisper of a Rose (despite the somewat schoolboy language at times), Quintessence:Blighted Venom and "To the moon" are at the moment my top games of this genre. Well done. Once I'll scrape enogh money, I'll get it for sure bevause it looks too top quality to miss.

 Re: Sweet Lily Dreams
WARNING: Do not purchase strategy guide--it is being sold but is unfinished as of this post (12/31/2011).

Sic days ago, I purchased the strategy guide for this game, but it was useless to me as the walkthrough stopped right at the point I was stuck at. Well, six days later the official response is still "I'm working on it."

AJ has pulled this before, when he first sold Whisper of a Rose (WOTR), the game wasn't anywhere near finished--he sold it as a complete game and then when people realized they had paid for a game that wasn't done, he repeatedly lied, made excuses and then disappeared for over a year. He did finally come back and sell a completed version of WOTR and give "free" copies to those who had purchased the uncompleted game before, but it was still an act of theft by fraud to sell an incomplete game in the first place. Selling a game that is nowhere near completion isn't a mistake, it's a deliberate act. I forgave him for what he did, but I haven't forgotten.

Now he is apparently pulling the same kind of thing with the strategy guide. I expect it will be finished eventually as it looks like it's most of the way done and what is done is very good, but that still doesn't excuse selling it before it's finished. Someone needs to have a talk with that boy.

 Re: Sweet Lily Dreams
@webgrunt, I'm really curious why you purchased AJ's new game when you seem really unsatisfied with WoaR's releases?

Like come on, give the guy a break. He released this game right before Christmas and with New Year's right around the corner. Personally, I was impressed he didn't miss the deadline as so often happens with game releases(I can think of two that I've been waiting for a long time now!). I'm not really sure he anticipated as much demand for a strategy guide when he was working hard to polish up and release SLD either; but I guess strategy guides have become the standard with just about every game release, and perhaps this can be improved in the future to coincide with his game releases. ^^ Besides, he said something about having limited Internet at the moment @Roseportal forums a few days ago. But yes, he'll get to it when he can because I'm sure it's important to him to get fixed! And don't forget, he's just one person and you can always get help from others in the forums here or @Roseportal!

 Re: Sweet Lily Dreams
Give him a break???? I have but I keep getting the run around. I have emailed many times about the guide for WOAR and finally received a email saying he could not find my purchase. So I emailed him back with a copy of my purchase and I am waiting and waiting for his reply.

Now the forums are down!

What does it take to send out an email letting us know what is going on?

@Dis:

I purchased AJ's new game and the strategy guide for exactly that reason--because I wanted to give him a break, and trusted that he had abandoned his fraudulent ways. I did not expect to get ripped off again.

I'm really curious why you're sticking up for someone who is selling an incomplete project?

Oh, I now see that he has stopped selling the guide through his site and is still promising to update it. Next time, he should refrain from selling anything until it is completely finished. I don't understand how he can do the same thing he did before and expect a different result.

And as far as your feeling that we're overreacting, well, I don't think that's fair to accuse us of when the first time he released a game, he released an incomplete game then lied about it and disappeared with everyone's money for over a year. I think YOU should give US a break for being seriously concerned when he seems to be doing the same thing again...

@Bluerose

Yep, he did the exact same thing (took the forums down) last time people started figuring out he was selling an incomplete project and were talking about it on his forums.

 Re: Sweet Lily Dreams
I went to fight the final battle to see what would happen and accidentally saved over my slot. I'm screwed and can't go back.

The game's okay, but it suffers from a very serious lack of an overall story. The individual dream worlds are fun and entertaining, but the developers were so busy doing subplots that as a result there's very little in the way of a main storyline.

Graphics and mapping are very good, and the music is lovely. I recommend playing this game just for those things.

Lots of neat little sidequests to do (though see above for the problem with this). Remodeling your home, buying things with points, etc. that was one of the high points of the game.

Big thing that annoyed me though was the constantly-respawning monsters. If you get lost in a dungeon or take a couple of wrong turns, you wind up fighting virtually every battle over again because monsters respawn the moment you leave the screen. Getting lost with all the puzzle dungeons and mazes is very easy so I spent a lot of the time playing this game just wandeirng about and fighting the same battles over and over.

Was it worth $20? Definitely. Just to see the various dream worlds come to life. This was a fun game, but overall, the main plot really needed more depth. Also, with the things happening with the other team it feels like there's a lot of important things that happen offscreen or are just left-out. Other things like the discoveries in The Writer's dreamworld towards the end feel highly artificial, like they were just thrown in as an afterthought to make him more sympathetic. None of them were even hinted at earlier on. In the end, I found this game a lot of fun, but I think it needed a bit of work.

You can skip that puzzle for an in-game cost, select the 'check the glow' option. The Hall of Puzzles is optional too - you can ignore them and advance if they're not your cup of tea.

Muggles is soooo cute!
But this game is not only fairy godmothers, cute tree-like things and pink cloud cities! A lot of creepy things too. Especially 'It'!
