As this only came out 2 days ago and someone has finished it already (2 if the review scores are genuine, and they were there yesterday!) does that mean that it is a very short game?

 Re: Skyborn
I purchased it, I am playing it.....and it's a VERY good game. Immersive storyline, visible (and mostly easily avoidable) battles. You can make the battles easier in the options menu, but I haven't found the need; the battles seem evenly balanced to me. This game is more geared toward those players that prefer to focus on the story and characters, vs. battles (and that's me!) No need to grind; "adventuring nodes" (small sparkly spots) are generously located throughout the game to give your party experience points and ultimately raise levels. Spots to recover all hit points and magic points (larger sparkly spots) are also located quite generously. Many facets of unique gameplay, including different kinds of ore in the walls of dungeons to take, and forges to use the ores you've collected to forge good weapons and armor (for free). You can also buy items to augment your ordinary weapons and armor. And there are quite a few monsters and NPC races that I haven't seen before.

Oh, and this game certainly isn't one of those 100-hour mammoths....but I am at 7 hours of gametime right now and estimate I'm about halfway through. I'm taking my time and enjoying it, making sure I explore every area of every dungeon, etc.

All in all, quite a riveting game and well worth playing!

What a review!

Yes, you can blow through the game, skip all optional content, and clock about 5 hours. But there's all sorts of optional content mid way through that is more than worth doing. Also, there's a million combinations of equipment, augments, character classes to try. And a Hard difficulty level for players more focused on maximizing party combat power.

 Re: Skyborn
Hello everyone.

Version 1.10 is live. It has an entirely new mouse and menu system, among other streamlining changes. You can simply download the new version and install over the old one without losing your save.

The rare exception to that rule: If your save is within the first couple minutes of the game, the earliest town has been re-arranged for easier navigation.

Version history:

1.10 - March 18, 2012

-Overhauled the mouse system
*now with one-click move interface
*numerous pathfinding issues fixed
*in menu navigation with mouse improved
-Added on screen menu accessible by mouse
-Edited early city layout for earlier navigation
-Tweaked introduction for more streamlined exposition
-Removed automatic full screen mode upon startup (you can toggle this at any time in the system menu)

 Re: Skyborn
Edited to add: Never mind, I FINALLY figured it out! It's like trouble: easier to get into than out of.

----

If I get the Trade Permit at Blackstone, and then I realized I missed a treasure chest and went back in, is here some way for me to get back out? It seems like Sullivan's dad's office is locked and I can't get back to the beginning.

I bought and played the game and I love it! The story was entertaining and the ending was great. The graphics were lovely. I liked that there was less focus on combat- the adventure nodes were a great idea.
I do wish there had been a few more side quests and maybe another area outside of the city to explore.
Overall, the game really was excellent and I very much enjoyed it.

So I played the demo and I loved it! Skyborn moved up to the top of my list of games to get when I get a job. Great story, loveable characters, wonderful music, beautiful scenery. Don't know why I love Sullivan, but I do! I'll just have to play it to find out.

PS. I want that soundtrack!

 Re: Skyborn
I played the demo and it was excellent! I also want to purchase the game but whenever I go to buy it there is no paypal option. This is a problem for me since I only use paypal. Is there going to be a paypal option?

Got your email, will be sure to buy the game soon!

Edit:
Bought the game and finished it in seven hours without completing all the little side and optional quests and objectives.

Overall I loved the game, the story was magnificent, the characters exciting, refreshing and lovely, my favourite would have to be Sullivan and Claret though.

The maps surprised me not just cause they were original but because normally games made with VX or of the like with the more square effect on tiles, and me clash badly, really badly so much that if the bug me to an certainer extent I simply cannot continue playing. But the maps I saw and explored in this game where just awesome, there was slight annoyances but I could easily overlook them.

To me the story of this game is just as good and exciting as the aveyond stories, I was totally engrossed in the game. The only thing I found as a big disappointment was when the game ended, I wanted and still do want to see more romance between the characters especially Claret X Sullivan. Is there going to be a second part to the game I would really love that.
Oh and I would also love to see Sullivan get jealous that would be funny.

 Re: Skyborn
feedback for purpose of feedback:

Really liked the storyline, very immersive and worked out decently.

The graphics were nice, and I really liked the steampunk, however I knew the tileset so it looked a bit too familiar. This is not necessarily a bad thing.

The mapper has a great talent. however, starting from the forest map, they became too long and too complex for my liking. Especially when you are one of those players who want to discover every tile of the map, and has a terrible sense of orientation. however, that might also be a personal thing

I also really liked the smithing and some of the other functions that give the game a unique touch.

overall a great game worth buying!

Yeah!! The game is good, i liked playing it but couldn't complete all the tasks(the ones involving going to the bottom of portal n the card mission). Didn't go to the bottom of the portal, thinking that i would come back later but turned out completing the game instead.
Overall a good game with well written story n characters.

 Re: Skyborn
Just want to say: this is epic

You have to continue this story in some form and use the world setting for further tales in it. It would be a waste not to. I can see it could easily become another Aveyond, where multiple games take place in the same world, all adding to it. The possibilities to combine magic and technology, and the conflict of these two are also pretty limitless.

And for some reason it reminds me a bit of Septerra Core, which is a great bonus in my opinion as I love that game.

EDIT: And don't you DARE to change character artists! Whomever has drawn Chaska and the others is a true master, brilliant!

 Re: Skyborn
The game is good, but it's a little too short (took me around 7 hours to do everything, sidequest, the card deck, etc.)
I also felt like there could have been more in there, like the story was a little rushed. I know that it's not easy to make games like this but, maybe it would be a good idea to expand the next game story more?
You could also make a "Skyborn: Enchanced edition", adding more content, expanding the story, maybe a "newgame+" or a save for a sequel?

What can I say about Skyborn? Great story line, funny, and love the robot! The setting reminds me of Final Fantasy XII because of all the sky ships and Alpha Kimori because of the soldiers. Definitively, putting this on my wish list next to all the Aveyond series.

I absolutely loved this game. I played it in one go and I might not have finished everything in it but I'll do that on my next run. I NEED a sequel for this, I really do!

Best rpg game i ever played..amazing storyline, so original, i was honestly addicted to that game, played it twice.
The best thing is that you can change the level of difficulty thoughout the game. Another thing is that there are so many chests and the locations are really beautiful.
I can't wait for a sequel!!!
That game is so worth buying!!!

 Re: Skyborn
This was one of my favorite rpg maker style games. The art is fantastic and I just loved the characters and the story. I really feel like playing a second time. I like the crafting system and augments. The only two weaknesses in my opinion are the mazes tend to be a little too confusing and I had to do a ton of backtracking. A guide with maps would help a lot. The other thing was that I felt it would have been better if the battles had more original enemies. But really those are small things. Considering the level of quality of the tile sets and the wonderful steam punk feel I think this still rates as one of my favorite indie rpgs. Great job! Please please make a sequel and let us be able to fly the airship. That'd be great.

 Re: Skyborn
Just wanted to say I've played and completed this game last month and generally enjoyed it. The setting is great, characters are very colourful, and the level of polish, especially when it comes to visuals and music, is superb.

I wasn't too keen on the battles aspect since I thought each character could use some more skills to use in battles and also how the game's difficulty was very easy for like 90% of it and then sharply gets really hard in the last level (a smoother difficulty curve would've been nicer I think). But the crafting and augment systems made the gameplay more interesting and were nice additions.

I might write a proper review later if I get some time. Good game. Recommended.
