I thought the game was realy fun. It was a cleaver idea and I loved the music.

Does anyone know who I can fix the graphics?? They are so blurry that I can't make out any of the people or words!

this is a great game for a 1999 one. but someimes it was hard to read the word it is a great presequle to aveyond. great story line, great charcters,over all great

Ugh, the grahics are terrible! Other than that, it's a great game. The story is neat, the people are interesting, etc. I just can't stand the graphics! It will soon make me go crazy!

After finishing the latest chapter in the Aveyond series (Aveyond: The Lost Orb), I decided to download Ahriman's Prophecy to see where it all began. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, though I admit I "cheated" by downloading the God goody. Frankly, the battle system did irriate me so starting out at a higher level kept me going. The graphics patch worked like a charm and I never had a problem reading the script.

Unfortunately, though, I never got to see any of the endings of the game because after I defeated Ahriman, Talia just became stuck in the room. I was able to heal everyone and move her all over the screen, but that was it. Game over.

Other than this bug, however, it was a great game.

The second game I played on the series. I just finished aveyond 1 (maybe May 2009?) and I searched if there is an aveyond 2. To my delight, there is! But, I don't wanna buy games so I decided to download Ahriman's Prophecy. Suddenly, I got idea of how the characters in Aveyond 1 we're born or any any any any any............. Okay so, the graphics are a little bad but the overworld music, really liked it...

Dear GOD was this game CRAZY annoying --- All of the glitches drove me crazy and they are FREAKING EVERYWHERE - The Worst one so far was when After defeating a boss Devin left my party and, I pulled up my Menu screen And found out Talia was Dead and I had no Revives. I WAS LIKE WTF so I had to freaking quit AND DO IT AGAIN - I was so pissed; However, I was glad that this was fixed in later games (aka the Second err Third depending on how you want to look at it (Eans Quest)) The only thing That I REALLY like about this one was that I could just enter buildings I didnt have to press space or enter just to open doors (that drove me crazy)
The Glitches arent the worst though, the Fighting is. In this you dont Enter a fight screen and fight people you have to chase them around until you hit them (Crazy annoying) ,And you cant use items in a battle so if you need to heal you have to run like crazy. - The movement in this was too fast. Im constantly Running in Circles trying to hit my opponent. If your more of a plot than Gameplay person you can probably sit through it... I plan on beating this... Eventualy...

The game was really good but i think they should make a remake so that the graphics and people and the battle system look like the other aveyond games.

I played this after beating Aveyond for the second time. At first the graphics irked me and I got irritated with the battle style, but I used the God Goodie so I wouldn't just drop it... Glad I didn't. After awhile the graphics no longer became a problem as I didn't notice it anymore. Jack is an irritating little thing, I must add. But I beat it in about 2-3 days since I played non-stop.

It's a good thing they changed the battle graphics

the character sprite's are a little bit better tough

Really like this game, don't care about the graphics. They're awesome, y'know. And I do not wear glasses or contacts.

When I was younger, my dad downloaded Aveyond 2 and I got mad and said "This isn't the first!" Then I downloaded this game ((but never finished it, coz it was on the laptop and it gets two reformats every freaking YEAR)). And then I remembered it today and I looked and saw that it was FREEEEE!

So, yeah, the download's complete, and I'm going to play. DDDD

i discovered something really neat. what engine was used to create it. Rpg maker 2000 or 2003.
both engines are free of course but their grapics still look like a child spewed them out of a bag of blocks. not trying being rude sorry. well too bad i never finished because that final boss just whipped my butt every time. well at least he got weaker in av1.

This is a very enjoyable game, once you get past the graphics. I stopped noticing. I also find that you really need to level up in this game, or it's really difficult to get farther into the game. Since I've played AV 1 - 3, this was really different.

I'm glad that it's free now.

I love this prequal it fits perfectly into the story it is the story and its got good plot its not from the heros guide of stuff thats been done already its all original

why I can't install it? It always says; "Checksum mismatch. The installation is corrupt or has been tampered with. If you download this file form the internet, try downloading it again.". Then, after I press ok, It says "Couldn't read TOC. Aborting". Anyone, can help me please???

Sorry DS but I think everyone has their own opinions. Although I agree that you shouldn't judge a game with it's graphics, you shouldn't say something like "You're not a true RPG player" at all.

Hello! I love this game. It was the first RPG game I ever played, and it remains my favourite. Just a small question however. I had the game installed on windows vista, but I lost it when I recently upgraded my system to windows 7. I was just about to re-download when I noticed windows 7 isn't listed amongst the supported OS. Anyone know if AR will run on windows 7?

I love this game! Final Fantasy meets The Legend of Zelda! Beautiful graphics and not-too-challenging gameplay. Once I've finished this the Aveyond series will be next on my list of games to complete. Awesome work, Amaranth Games and a special thank you to the creator, Miss Amanda Fitch. ^_^

This is one of the best freebie games on the internet. It's rich, it's atmospheric (the music is drop-dead beautiful), and it's engaging, with tons of sidequests and diverse locations. The fact that it spawned the Aveyond series makes it even more of a must-download.

And I personally love the graphics. Yes, they're retro, but that's what I love about them. It looks like an old-school game, which gives it a certain old-school charm.

Did anyone have problem with do not getting enough money to buy things?
I have a trick to share
but,you could only do it after you get the ship and have jack in the party.
My advice is you must have a lot of cassia leaves to do it.
The trick is you use thief skill on the creature in the forest near venwood ( the creature that look like a woman, not the creature with the horn)
if you lucky you will get a ruby!!( ruby worth about 2000 gold, if i not mistaken) and then run. I recommend you do it at the entrance of the forest because you surely dead if you didnt escape from the map.
keep doing this untill you are satisfy with it. ( the maximum ruby that i get is about 40 before i get bored and continue the quest, i go there again when i am lack of money again)
P.S:just buy the cassia leaves and dont bother to buy recovery item because one strike of the creature and jack is dead, unless you are in a high level.
this maybe only usefull to people that didnt use the goodies.
YOU MUST STEAL FROM THE CREATURE , NOT DEFEAT IT AND SEARCH THE LOOT.

This is another trick that useful .
you can use it to every boss battle after you reach venwood( for real not for collecting money and you could defeat the monster there.)
the trick require a lots of money but it worth it.
the trick is just buy the soul amulet at the shop in venwood. with it you dont even need to cast any spell to defeat ahriman, you just need about 14 to 16 soul amulet and ahriman is dead it work on any other boss too. i always have at least 30 in my inventory before enter the last battle.

its a great game but every time i try to beat the dark sprite it crashes and somehow saves?! what should i do?

So I played Aveyond: Rhen's quest (LOVED IT), and I had hear about Ahriman's Prophecy, and wanted to play it. I clicked on the download button, and a blank tab from Internet Explorer opened up, but didn't give me any way to download it, just left it as a blank tab. So now I'm sitting here, sad, because I can't play if I can't download it!):

FINALLY got the game! Love it! The graphics don't bother me at all! The characters (even though I just began playing the game) are vivid. I like it!

I really liked this game, the graphics got annoying at some points, but its the first game of the series so its expected, but other than that great storyline and everything!

The game that got me going when it comes to RPG's. I played the game for the first time when Aveyond was in development on my very first computer around... dunno how long has it been...6-7 years ago? And I have loved the game and EVERYTHING about it since. Sure it doesn't compare to the recent games when it comes to graphics, but WHO NEEDS IT? The game is awesome, the music is soothing, the battle system is unique(though not everyone likes it, I do), and the plot??? Well without AP, we wouldn't have an Aveyond, would we?
