Deep in the forest, lost and forlorn, you keep wandering around hoping to find a way out. "It's going to be nightfall soon, I must hurry," you think worriedly. Is it you, or do the branches seem as if they are tugging on each minute part of your clothing? Somewhat restless and paranoid, you clench your hands together and feel the cold sweat on your bright red cheeks to ascertain if you’re awake or dreaming. They feel cold, the palms of your hands. You remember the lovely weather when you had just stepped out of your cottage for a visit, and feel a small tinge of panic. You do not want to be lost...if you did, you would lose the bet. The bet where you had made sure to tell your friends that you would pay a visit to these forests...and the abode of the mysterious Enchantress guarding it.

Dazed in your thoughts, you notice a blink out of the corner of your eyelashes. Something glinting. A pearl, a diamond? But in a forest...surely not..? Curious and somewhat mystified, you slowly walk towards it, as if it was a magnet pulling you to unknown mysteries...or reveries?

As you head closer you reach an intersection and see this...

Never have you seen this kind of magic or illusions before. Surely...it is an illusion? Your eyes have never deceived you, but little do you know of the power you are facing here. All of a sudden, a little... “wait what is that?" You rub your eyes in disbelief. A blue-eyed cat suddenly jumps into your field of vision, almost surprisingly so, leaving you nearly immobile, apart from the slight tension in your muscles. “Those icy, staring eyes...peering into my own...” you think.

With a magnificent and almost graceful flick of his snowy whiskers, he reveals this...

and with another flick disappears! You gaze in amazement and wonder how such an enchanting place could be in the middle of a forest and give some thought to its residents before taking another step inside the whirlpool. You climb up the stairs and knock on the door nervously, unsure of what you would encounter. You remember her...you had seen her before around the Kingdom. She wasn’t always visible to all, gracefully gliding around in those silvery robes before you blinked, and she disappeared. One blink, and you’d miss her. Enchantress Aelita... The door opens slowly, snapping you out of your daze again.

But to your surprise, you notice a familiar figure.

"Welcome, welcome! It's been a while since we had a guest." You jump with fright and bump into the same little cat you met outside. Nervously, you look around hoping to see the person to whom the voice belongs. "Ermm…hello?” you shout, your voice quivering. That voice is giving me the creeps, you think aloud.

"Please come in, have a seat. You look exhausted." the voice continues. To your shock, you realize it's none other than that cat who said that. "Please make yourself comfortable" he grins. Your eyes are popping out but thankfully still in their sockets, "W-w-who are you??!!!" but the voice tries to calm you down saying, "Oh, don't be afraid! I'm just a harmless lil kitty, Ace," he winks.

You obediently follow out of fear and go and sit on the sofa. "Wow, it's so comfortable. I feel like I'm sitting on the clouds," you say aloud forgetting your fear for a moment. Ace just laughs, which to you appears somewhat sinister. You wipe your forehead again, although there’s no sweat, your mind going blank as you try to fathom what is going to happen next...

"Come this way," he says and leads you to the dining room...

Ace escorts you through the hallway leading to the dining room.

While admiring the grand hallway, you feel some strange presence around you although you don't actually see anything. It's like you're surrounded by some mystical energy. Before you can dwell on it any longer, you arrive at your destination and Ace takes your leave.

"Come in! Ya muzbe famized," you hear someone say as soon as you enter. You glance around the room to see who its coming from and notice a mushy-skinned goblin at the far end of the room. You cannot tell if he’s smiling or grinning, or just plain unaffected. He seems absorbed in studying you as well, you notice before long.

"Wat ya lookin at? Me Ghiztpok," he says in a gruff, yet smooth monotone. You realize you’ve been discovered, and decide to continue your examinations later. Then, by the guide of a aroma you’ve never sensed before, your eyes turn around and fall on the dining table, now overflowing with delicacies of every taste and uniquity.

"All diz waz prepared by fairiez, pixiez and elfz from around ere, zpecially for you, dear guezt," he smirks. You of course, are too enticed by the contents of the table to pay attention to that smirk. Of course... it means nothing Not to the long line of eatables before you. You can almost feel your stomach start to grumble. Compared to the little jam and toast you had for breakfast, you can allow yourself to be pampered for supper, you think.

"Dig in," he winks, graciously. It is as if he knows you won’t be able to resist it... So why are you trying so hard... why are you thinking so much? With a violent shake of your head, and a small nod to yourself, you appraise the food with gleaming eyes before you start to help yourself, to your heart’s content

"Now ow bout some dezzertz?" Meals would be incomplete without desserts, wouldn’t they now? You really would not want to miss out on that. You slightly poke the little bulge now appearing on your belly, and conclude that you could fit in some more!

“By the way...where is she?..” you mutter to yourself while eating. “Did ya need zomeding, dear?” Ghiztpok enquires, with a concerned look on his face. Funny, you weren’t able to make out his emotions before... You mutter again, replying to his question in the negative, before allowing yourself to be absorbed in the desserts again.

"Hey, that wasn't so bad," you say to yourself after the satisfying meal. "Guess I should take it easy and enjoy it while it lasts," you smile.

“Wow,” you mutter, patting your tummy as you wander through the maze of a hallway, intuitively following the direction pointed to vaguely by a stubby little finger of your previous greeter. “Now I can burn off all those calories, so I guess I shouldn’t worry.” This could be like one of those many puzzle adventure games you’ve played, where the protagonist damsel in distress got stuck in a mansion and you had to do various things to untie all knots and reveal the mystery. Those were fun games, a little challenging. Only this time, you were the damsel. Should you be distressed?

“What am I thinking? This is not one of those tales where a brave knight on a white horse comes to rescue the damsel from distress! Although, that would be nice,” you giggle. The corner of your eye catches itself in a mirror. You stop to inspect the gold-framed object. Staring into it, you slowly recognize your features changing, a slender neck, chocolate brown hair falling down on a smooth shoulder, the thin aquiline nose, piercing blue eyes, the well-set lips curving into an appealing smile. Instinctively, you touch your hair and feel your skin. “Ouch! >.<” it’s cold...rubbing your cheeks frantically to supply enough friction for a little bit of heat, you gallop down the hallway...right into the Librarie Au Boulandore.

*clik!* Your cold cheeks are suddenly inflamed by a sense of heat as you realize they’re turning red. Slowly removing your palms from your face, you rotate your eyes to see two tiny flames dancing in front of your cheeks, extending their tiny hands to warm your face. Magic. Spotting the perpetrator of this sitting on a high chair ready to welcome you, you sigh in relief. Although he’s hidden behind piles of ancient spellbooks and mythopaedias, you are able to notice the pointy, hairy ears and the deep-set dark grey eyes, hiding years of wisdom and revealing none.

“The flame thumbelins allow themselves to be summoned with the easiest of spells,” begins a warm, deep and fluent voice, shuddering in some edges, “We hoped we may not have inconvenienced you too much...first-timers are always interesting to watch.” Spreading his lips in a wide smile which disappeared instantly, he introduced himself.

“Aldin The High Elf, Keeper of The Librarie Au Boulandore and faithful servant to my mistress. Pleased to make your acquaintance, dear guest.”

“P-pleased to meet you too,” you laugh, smoothing your hair while doing so.

“You may look around at your own pleasure, although you must be careful not to read too much into any of the...books...here. They can be possessive, and you would not want that." So saying, Aldin adjusts a pair of glasses on his thin, aquiline nose, flipping open a huge textbook with a graceful flick of his thin, long fingers. You observe his movements carefully, as if awed, and then turn your attention to the museum of none other than...books.

You see an open book on the table with something shiny placed on it. Out of curiosity you head towards it.

The elf explains that it is an enchanted rare crystal orb housed in an aged ornate metal wand. Little does he know that you're more interested in what the page on which the orb is placed says. He takes the orb and puts it in its place and closes the book before you can read more.

"Feel free to go through any of the books here while I get back to my book." he smiles. "In case you may need assistance with anything DO NOT HESITATE in letting me know."

You climb a long, winding staircase and glance at all the books but one book really stands out.

Almost instantly you reach out for it and grab it. What caught your curiosity and your attention was the fact that this particular book did not have a title, as did a few others you had noticed. However, this one poked your curiosity.

Just when you're about to open it, it emits an eerie glow and opens up on its own. What was more surprising was that the pages of the book were absolutely empty, each and every one.

It seemed as if a few pages had some artwork on them, heavily detailed pictures that could not be related to one another, and separated by pages. Before you could proceed further, you come across a picture of...yourself? Holding something in your hand...is that a...cookie?

You gulp hoping that Aldin didn't see you and try to close the book and put it back in its place although you'd love to see more. As you turn around, you see him glaring at you.

"OK, that book was NOT supposed to be here. Sorry about that, hope it didn't scare you."

"Well since you're already familiar with the books, let's head there. But on the condition that you don't touch ANYTHING there. Understood?" he says pointing to a long table full of interesting looking items. You simply nod. "The stuff here can be dangerous if handled by an untrained hand. Here are some wands and staffs."

"When you are choosing a wand, it is important to trust your own inner wisdom. There are many wonderful wands here and elsewhere but for a wand to be the one for you, it must spark a special feeling inside when you look at it or touch it."

You notice an ornate wand with a beautiful clear crystal orb that seems to glow from the surging power within and approach it.

"Please don't touch it. This enchanted orb wand has magical abilities beyond your wildest dreams." he almost yells. Disappointed, you step back.

"Here are some potions, elixirs, etc and some other trinkets."

"Here, in this chest, you will find some extraordinary trinkets mainly amulets, pendants, rings, necklaces, charms, bracelets, etc, that have magical properties. They endow the wearer with a variety of abilities, including invisibility, protection, the granting of wishes and even immortality."

While looking around, a magic 8 ball on the other table catches your eye and you fiddle around with it for sometime

He then shows you some orbs and explains the speciality of each one. And also a crystal ball.

You feel a sudden strange urge to touch and look into the crystal ball. So you try to distract him by asking about the light staff you saw earlier and as he turns and walk towards it you manage to touch it. As you peer into it, you see

"Whoa, what's that place?" you wonder aloud "It looks amazing!" The elf looks at you unamused and with a snap of his fingers teleports you back into the hallway.

After a short walk, you come across what appears to be a portal to a secret garden. Unable to control your curiosity, you enter it.

As you stroll into the garden, you hear a cheerful voice, "Hi there, welcome to the next stop on the tour, and my private property, hah!

What you’re looking at now with that look on your face and that ridiculous twitch of your nose is a gnome standing amidst a boundless garden to explore! This gnome himself takes a pride in his jolly face and this curious little paunch. Oh But I’m sorry, I think I should have introduced myself first…Oh darn..why did I have to forget the lines?..." he snatches out little pieces of paper (which had obviously been torn in a sheer fit of rage or a fight with a malicious [and also obviously more intelligent] opponent) and consults them, quick as lightning! Putting them back, he resumes, “ Dear human guest, allow me to start over since I tend to...err...ramble when I’m excited. Reinhardt is my name and to scare you is the game! Huhauhuaha! *cough*”
“Huhh..?” you say with a questioning and more-than-ever-paranoid look on your face. The gnome just smiles.

"Here you can see the most exotic plants ever. Isn't it breathtaking?!"

“Yeah, I suppose..as long as I don’t lose my breath to it...or them...” you mutter to yourself.
“You won’t You just need to know how to play yourself safely outta this!”

By now, you're prepared for anything. So when the hyper-y gnome says those last words, you feel like you should let go of your restraints and...what was that saying..(?)...go with the flow!!

“Take a few deep breaths and let them out! Like this...” the gnome says and proceeds to make a few *phoooosh* sounds. You can’t help but laugh at the nose which blows up so magnificently every time he does that. “That way, you can let it go!” he continues.

“So..you can read minds too?”

“Who said you had to add that ‘too’? It might not be necessary haha!”

Amused by little-greenfingers, you take up an enthusiastic approach to your tour, although you wish you had done so before...”Oh well...I can always come back again...”

“Yes, yes you can...and you will!!"

"And this my friend, is the Great Tree. If your need is great, the Great Tree will provide an answer."

You feel tempted to check it out but when you try to enter it a strange force blocks your path. "Maybe next time?" Reinhard smiles mischievously.

Reinhard shows you a large variety of unusual and exotic flowers which you've never seen before and even lets you pluck a special flower that glows brightly in the dark.

While walking through the garden you stumble upon a Fairy Tea Party! But they disappear before you can even catch a glimpse of them.

"No worries, I'll show you something better," Reinhard winks. "Follow me."
He leads you deeper into the garden to a fairy ring.

"Go on," he grins. You step into the circle, anxiously. In a moment, you're transported to

"Wow!" you gasp and stand rooted to the spot for a few moments entranced by the enigmatic aura around this place.

"So this is where the fairies reside!" you say hardly able to contain your excitement. You stride in with gusto half-believing this is all a dream.

You come across a little acorn house on water and curiously enough, you slide open the roof like a little doll house.

Half-expecting a Mr. Froggy scrubbing himself in a bathtub wearing a loofah, who would immediately spout a ladylike-scream at you, you open your half closed eyes.

“Well...what do you know!” There is a little frog inside and he is doing what you thought he would! Except that he’s bathing in mud, and when he *burps*, a large bubble of mudwater goes splat at your face! xD “Ohhh...myy baa*croak*aad! I know now that I shouldn’t have had that double-cheese double-mushroom burger”

You leave him to his privacy and move on, wiping the mud blotch on your face...

As you go deeper, it gets denser and darker but just when you start to get worried, you see:

Before you can absorb what you've just seen, you're brought back to the garden. Reinhard says something but you're too caught up in your thoughts while those sights refuse to leave your mind.

You enter a room that seems like a bedroom except that it’s nothing like you've seen before. It's captivating...

Suddenly, a flowing figure in purple-white appears out of nowhere, in front of you. You adjust your eyes (by rubbing them in this case), and peer up at the smiling enchantress in front of you. “Now I have to take those height growth tablets!” you decide.

"Hiya, I'm Aelita! Hope you enjoyed the tour of my home. Sorry, I couldn't show you around myself. But an enchantress' gotta do what an enchantress' gotta do. Hope Volan made you feel at home."

"Huh? Who's Volan?!" you wonder puzzled.

"Heh, don't tell me he was being his mischievous self again. Well Volan is my familiar, a pegasus who can shapeshift. I'm sure you must have met him in some form or the other" ;D she says and summons him.

“Had fun, didn’t you?” says a smooth, eerie voice right behind your ear, stressing on each word with solemn malice. You turn around swiftly to find..“Yes, it’s me, Ace”, he says with the same prolonged tone of voice. “But don’t worry, you..hazn’t yet zeen all ze mysteries of ze houze!” says Ghistpok(?!).

“Did..did the cat just..(?!?!?)”

“Transform into the slimy, greasy, abhorrent, manipulative, repelling, traitorous creature of a goblin, in a flick of light? I believe so, yes.”

That not-so-modest, dignified, mind-your-own-business tone could have belonged to none other than...Aldin! But as you turn around to look at him, Ghistpok seemed to have disappeared.

“Huahuahuahauhaua *COUGH*! Feelin’ woozy, dear child?” You’d recognize that carefree, crazy laugh all to well, although Reinhardt was still in the process of...

“..practicing it? Yes, I am!”

Still unable to say anything, you wait for the garden gnome to transform into the last remaining tour guide. You wouldn’t let your surprise show as you slowly started to grasp the reality of the situation. Okay, so you didn’t see that through, huh? You noticed the gnome looking at you emptily...till you realized it wasn’t alive at all!

“You’re looking at the wrong place!” You turn to look at the speaker and it’s none other than Darwin. With another flick of movement, he transforms into the Pegasus you had just heard about!

“SO WHO MISSED MEH?!?!"

Your mouth gapes open.

"Hehe, I’d sent all my tour guides out vacationing, you see. So that I could specially prepare a quirkily different welcome for you and test you to see if you could see through my charms ^_^ There's a whole lot of mysteries out here waiting to be uncovered" Aelita says and conjures up a tray full of cookies.

She picks up a cookie in one hand and says with a grin, "But the biggest mystery of all lies in the palm of my hand, waiting to be revealed. Would you like to try it?" she winks and extends the cookie. ;D

The moment you take a cookie, which is surprisingly light and fluffy, Aelita waves her wand and says to you, "Hope you enjoyed your visit. See ya!"

And before you know it, you find yourself on the outskirts of the woods near the road.

As you walk towards the road, you wonder if it all was a dream, a reverie or did it really happen.

It seems like time didn't pass at all. You open your backpack and find:

The flower Reinhard had given you! It glows brightly in the darkness of the setting sun.

You walk away in a daze confused and excited at the same time.
